Leaked AMD Zen 6 Mobility CPU Family: Gator Series for Gaming Laptops, Medusa Point for Premium Models & Medusa BB for Mainstream Use

Recent leaks have unveiled AMD’s upcoming Zen 6 Mobility CPUs, showcasing the new Gator Range and Medusa series expected to revolutionize laptop performance.

AMD’s Upcoming Mobility CPU Lineup: Gator Range & Medusa Series

In a recently exposed internal roadmap by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) Seleno, AMD’s upcoming plans have been outlined, providing insight into both their and Intel’s future CPU offerings. These details starkly contrast the Intel roadmap discussed earlier.

The roadmap reveals AMD’s plans for 2026-2027, introducing the latest Zen 6 architecture with a notable focus on three key families. The flagship family, referred to as the Gator Range, is designed to replace the existing Fire Range “HX”series. Promising high-end specifications, this range is expected to support up to 24 cores and 32 threads, aligning closely with desktop versions while maintaining a thermal design power (TDP) starting from 55W.

Next, the roadmap introduces two Medusa families. The first, Medusa Point, will take over from the Strix Point series, targeting both premium and mainstream laptops. Built on the advanced 3nm Zen 6 core architecture, this lineup is anticipated to leverage both Zen 6 and Zen 6C cores, catering to the evolving needs of mobile computing.

Recent insights suggest that CPUs within the Medusa Point category will feature configurations with up to 22 cores, including 4 Zen 6 cores, 4 Zen 6C cores, and an external 12-core Zen 6 CCD. Additionally, these processors are expected to incorporate an 8 CU RDNA 3.5+ integrated graphics unit (iGPU), enhancing their graphical capabilities.

The second Medusa family, Medusa BB, represents a more conventional option, accommodating the Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 models. This family is expected to support configurations with up to 10 cores, combining 4 Zen 6 cores, 4 Zen 6C cores, and 2 LP Zen 6 cores, all while sustaining an 8 CU RDNA 3.5 iGPU.

According to the roadmap, both the Gator Range and Medusa series are projected to launch by 2027. However, it is important to note that AMD is preparing for a launch of Zen 6 technology possibly as early as 2026. Enthusiasts and industry watchers should stay tuned for updates, particularly during AMD’s Financial Analyst Day planned for November.
