The Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000 series, based on AMD’s innovative Zen 5 architecture, has officially hit the market. Major online retailers such as Amazon and Newegg have started listing these high-performance processors for sale or back order. Newegg is currently offering pre-orders for the entire lineup, with prices commencing at $1, 649.
This latest PRO series includes a diverse range of five different models, boasting an impressive core count that varies from 16 to 96 cores. Each of these new chips not only retains the core count familiar from their predecessors but also introduces significant architectural enhancements and improved clock speeds. Retailers have recently updated their listings with the pertinent details and pricing following AMD’s official announcement.

The standout of this new series is the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX, which claims the title of the flagship workstation processor. Offering an impressive 96 cores, this CPU excels in artificial intelligence applications, delivering performance that AMD asserts is up to 26% faster than its predecessor, the PRO 7995WX. When stacked against the Intel Xeon W9-3595X, the 9995WX is reported to achieve up to 495% greater performance in select AI tasks.
Preliminary benchmarking results have painted a promising picture for the PRO 9995WX. Early tests, including those on Cinebench R23, yielded a remarkable multi-threaded score of 173K. Impressively, the processor can sustain a 5 GHz clock speed across all cores, enabling it to escalate its overall score to a staggering 186K points in the same benchmark.
