AMD is set to expand its lineup of Zen 5 CPUs with the upcoming retail release of the Ryzen 7 9700F, featuring 8 cores and 16 threads. This marks AMD’s fourth processor launch in a single day, further solidifying its position in the competitive CPU market.
Launch of the Octa-Core Ryzen 7 9700F and ASRock Motherboard Support
In a silent yet impactful move, AMD has introduced four new processors spanning its Zen 4 and Zen 5 families. The newly unveiled Ryzen family includes the Ryzen 5 7400F, Ryzen 5 7400, and Ryzen 5 9500F, predominantly available as OEM-exclusive options in South Korea. The centerpiece of this launch is the Ryzen 7 9700F, a processor that has been the subject of rumors for weeks prior to its announcement.
Although AMD did not formally announce these products, confirmation came from ASRock’s recent press release. ASRock has updated its 600 and 800 series motherboards to support these latest processors with BIOS version 3.30, incorporating the AGESA 1.2.0.3e Patch A. Currently, only the X870 Taichi Creator motherboard lists the new BIOS update, but it is anticipated that further updates will roll out to additional motherboards shortly.
The newly introduced AMD Ryzen™ 9000 Series includes the Ryzen™ 7 9700F and Ryzen™ 5 9500F, both without integrated graphics, as well as the Ryzen™ 5 7400 and 7400F from the Ryzen™ 7000 Series.
ASRock’s AM5 motherboard lineup—including X870E, X870, B850, B840, X670E, B650E, B650, A620A, and A620 chipsets—can fully support the newly launched processors by simply downloading and installing BIOS version 3.30 (AGESA 1.2.0.3e Patch A) or later from the official website.

For those interested, the official page for the Ryzen 7 9700F is now live. This CPU mirrors the core configuration of the Ryzen 7 9700X but lacks integrated graphics. It has a base clock speed of 3.8 GHz and matches the 5.5 GHz boost clock of the 9700X. The cache size and thermal design power (TDP) specifications are also consistent with its counterpart.
Although the Ryzen 7 9700F has yet to appear in AMD’s official Ryzen 9000 series database, expectations are high for its imminent inclusion. In terms of pricing, it is projected to range from $250 to $290, with an earlier listing suggesting around $290, though this is not likely to represent its final MSRP.
