Latest Windows 11 Dev Build 26120.1930 Features Copilot Key Remapping and Windows Sandbox
Windows 11 Insiders in the Dev Channel have received another update to explore this week. Microsoft has rolled out build 26120.1930, which introduces several notable features, including the new functionality to remap the Copilot key, a fresh simplified Chinese font, enhancements to Windows Sandbox, and more.
Below are the updates that are being gradually implemented for Dev Insiders who have enabled the “Get the latest features as soon as they are available”toggle:
Changes and Improvements being gradually rolled out to the Dev Channel when toggle is enabled:
[General]
- This update includes a minor collection of general improvements and fixes aimed at enhancing the overall user experience for Insiders running this build on their PCs.
[Fonts]
- A new simplified Chinese font (Simsun-ExtG) has been introduced, featuring 9,753 ideographs that support Unicode Extensions G, H, and I. This includes the highly requested character for Biangbiang noodles. The character U+30EDD is noted to be one of the most complex Chinese characters, as displayed in the image below. We recognize that some applications may currently be unable to display these new extended characters.
- Unicode range G 30000-3134A (4,939 characters)
- Unicode range H 31350-323AF (4,192 characters)
- Unicode range I 2EBF0-2EE5D (622 characters)
[Windows Sandbox]
- The updated Windows Sandbox Client Preview that began distribution with Build 26120.1843 should now be accessible to all Insiders in the Dev Channel.
Fixes progressively rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on:
[Other]
- Resolved an issue affecting some Insiders with dual-boot devices, where the boot menu (used to select the OS to boot into) displayed incorrectly (the color was off and it may have only shown in partial space).
Additionally, here are updates that are also gradually rolling out for all Dev Insiders:
[Settings]
- We are introducing the option to configure the Copilot key. Users can assign an app that is MSIX packaged and signed to the Copilot key, indicating that the app complies with security and privacy standards to ensure user safety. The key will continue to launch the Copilot app on devices that have it installed until a different experience is selected by the user. This setting can be accessed through Settings > Personalization > Text input. If the keyboard connected to your PC lacks a Copilot key, modifying this setting will have no effect. We plan to make further improvements to this experience in future updates.
Known issues in build 26120.1930 include the following:
[General]
- This build might fail to install with error 0x800f0983. If this error occurs, please attempt the installation again, as it should succeed on retry. If it remains at 0%, please be patient – it is likely to proceed eventually.
[Start menu]
- When clicking or tapping a letter in the Start menu’s All apps list, there is a chance the All apps list may become unresponsive. If you experience this issue, try rebooting your device or restarting explorer.exe to resolve it.
