November 2024 Patch Tuesday Updates from Microsoft

This week, Microsoft unveiled its Patch Tuesday updates for November 2024, releasing several essential fixes for both Windows 10 and Windows 11. On Windows 10, users can expect updates KB5046613, KB5046615, KB5046612, and KB5046665, while Windows 11 sees updates KB5046617 and KB5046633.

Dynamic Updates: New Releases

In addition to the standard update patches, Microsoft has also rolled out new dynamic updates for the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) — commonly referred to as Safe OS updates — as well as Setup updates. Detailed coverage of the Windows 11 updates was provided in an earlier article.

Windows 10 Updates: A Rare Occurrence

Interestingly, Microsoft has issued dynamic updates for Windows 10 this week, which is unusual given that the operating system is approaching its end of support (EOS) next year. As a result, pages associated with Windows 10 updates have now been flagged with an EOS caution banner, indicating the need for users to consider migration options.

Understanding Dynamic Updates

Dynamic Update packages are integral to ensuring that existing Windows images receive the latest fixes before they are deployed. According to a recent Techcommunity blog post, these updates encompass:

  • Setup Updates: Fixes to the files utilized by the setup process for feature updates.
  • Safe OS Updates: Specific fixes for the Safe OS utilized in Windows Recovery Environment.

The Dynamic Update process ensures that any upgrades to Windows 10 do not disrupt existing Language Pack (LP) and Features on Demand (FODs) content during the update process.

Availability of Updates

Unlike the majority of Windows 11 dynamic updates, several of these updates are accessible via the Windows Update channel, while a few are available for manual download. You can access them through the following links:
