La Quimera Launches in Early Access Following Delay
In a surprising move, the anticipated game La Quimera has officially launched on PC in early access, a week and a half after its originally planned release date. The announcement came just as the game was set to debut, accompanied by reviews that had already gone live.
Understanding the Delay
Initially, the developers at Reburn communicated a last-minute delay to its Discord community. Shortly thereafter, they replicated this message on La Quimera’s Steam page to keep a broader audience informed. Three days later, Reburn released a more comprehensive statement confirming that La Quimera would transition to an early access model, even though it had been marketed as a finished game prior to this announcement.
Reactions from the Developer
In a press release accompanying the early access launch, Reburn’s CEO, Dmytro Lymar, expressed gratitude towards the community for their ongoing support. He acknowledged the shift to early access, stating,
“We truly appreciate the support our community has shown since we made the decision to pivot La Quimera into Early Access. Though this wasn’t our original plan, as Ukrainian game developers, we’re very familiar with perseverance in the face of tough choices and tougher odds.”
Lymar further emphasized their commitment to delivering a unique gaming experience that fans expect, stating,
“Our goal is to deliver a new experience that fans of our past work have come to expect now and through future updates. Thank you again to all of our supporters.”
Enhancements and Forward Plans
Looking forward, Reburn plans to enhance several aspects of the game based on community feedback. The following improvements are on the development roadmap:
- Deeper integration of narrative elements with gameplay in both solo and co-op modes.
- Expanded NPC roles to enrich story-driven gameplay experiences.
- Better pacing and balance between narrative sequences and gameplay encounters.
- Enhanced level design to ensure engaging challenges for both solo players and those playing cooperatively.
- A robust collection of levels that will complete the major story arcs of the game.
In addition, Reburn has indicated an intention to adjust the game’s price above its current early access rate of $29.99 USD as new content is rolled out.
Initial Impressions and Future Hopes
Upon reviewing La Quimera, it became clear that the game was incomplete at the time of its initial showcase. Although it was communicated as a full release, it felt significantly unpolished and lacking in a cohesive experience. Transitioning to early access brings a glimmer of hope; however, the game must undergo extensive changes to truly resonate with players.
While my first impression was not favorable, I recognize that La Quimera possesses untapped potential. Its foundation suggests that it could evolve into a noteworthy title for fans of the shooter genre. As the developers embark on this journey of improvement, I sincerely hope to witness a transformation that will validate my concerns and provide an exceptional gaming experience by the time we reach the official 1.0 launch.
