LA Knight will never return to previous heights, according to WWE veteran (Exclusive)
As he gears up for his match against AJ Styles at WrestleMania XL, LA Knight is set to partake in one of the most significant bouts of his career thus far. According to Vince Russo, the former head writer of WWE, it is unlikely that the SmackDown superstar will make a comeback to the main-event scene in the near future.
By 2023, Knight had experienced a swift ascent through the ranks in WWE, establishing himself as one of the promotion’s most popular good guys. At the age of 41, he even engaged in a feud with Roman Reigns, ultimately falling short in his attempt to capture the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Crown Jewel 2023. Additionally, he was featured in a fatal four-way match at the 2024 Royal Rumble, where he faced off against Reigns, Styles, and Randy Orton.
“Whatever they’re doing with him [LA Knight], he’s never going to return to the heights that they had him at. He’s never going to return to that, bro. That’s the ongoing problem, Chris. Once they get you there [main-event level], they don’t know what to do with you. You can’t get somebody there and then continue with 50/50 booking.”[1:45 – 2:07]

Vince Russo’s take on the feud between LA Knight and AJ Styles
After departing from WWE in 1999, Vince Russo began writing for WCW before joining TNA as a member of the creative team. During Russo’s tenure as a writer for TNA, the roster boasted numerous high-profile names, including AJ Styles.
Eight years after his debut in WWE, Russo contends that Styles, now 46, is no longer given top priority due to his age.
“I would have to think at this point in his career AJ’s just there to put people over (…) I knew AJ pretty well. You know, bro, number one, devoted to Christ. Number two, unbelievable dad and family man. Always has been. I gotta believe at this point in his life AJ’s just making good money. He’s doing what he loves to do, bro. I’m sure they’re paying him very, very, very well. I gotta believe at this point in his life I think he’s happy with that.”[0:37 – 1:36]
According to Russo, this weekend’s WrestleMania XL could see a major title change.
