Kodak Black’s Attorney Claims Lil Durk Booked Flights to Check for Warrants, Not to Evade Arrest

Bradford Cohen, the lawyer representing rapper Kodak Black, suggested that Lil Durk might have been investigating whether a warrant was issued for his arrest. On the day of his arrest, October 24, 2024, attorney Cohen indicated that Durk reportedly had three international flights booked out of the U.S. Reports from the FBI claimed that Lil Durk was attempting to leave the country when authorities detained him at Miami International Airport.

This assertion was made by Cohen during his segment on the Law & Crime Network’s YouTube channel on October 29, 2024. He remarked on the peculiarity of Durk having “so many flights scheduled.”

“I don’t think it’s certain that he was planning to flee the country. However, it raises questions because it is unusual for someone to have so many flights booked. A common scenario is that individuals may not be aware of any existing warrants for their arrest,”Cohen elaborated.

Cohen recounted previous instances where individuals were arrested shortly after booking international flights, implying that the individuals were attempting to verify the status of potential warrants against them. He explained that since arrest warrants aren’t publicly accessible, people often book international flights, which subsequently alerts authorities to their travel plans.

Lil Durk was taken into custody the previous week on serious charges of “murder-for-hire,”as he allegedly plotted a scheme to murder Quando Rondo. Rondo was reported to be the target in a 2022 incident in Los Angeles that resulted in the death of his cousin, Lul Pab.

Law enforcement officials allege that this violent episode was motivated by a desire for revenge following the death of King Von in 2020. Von lost his life in a shooting that broke out after a confrontation between his crew and Rondo’s group in Atlanta.

Lil Durk’s Flights to Switzerland, Dubai, and Italy on October 24

As reported by HipHop DX, Lil Durk allegedly reserved three international flights on the same day he was arrested. FBI Special Agent Sarah Corcoran mentioned in an affidavit that Durk had secured two one-way tickets; one from Miami to Dubai and another from Fort Lauderdale to Switzerland, both set to depart on October 24, 2024.

The Special Agent noted that U.S. Customs and Border Protection provided information indicating that the rapper had arranged for two international flights.

One of these was a one-way ticket from Miami to Dubai, transitioning through Doha, Qatar, scheduled for the evening of October 24, 2024. Concurrently, his other ticket for a one-way flight from Fort Lauderdale to Switzerland included a connection in New Jersey and was also planned for departure on the same evening.

Reports confirm that U.S. Customs and Border Protection informed the FBI about Lil Durk having booked a private jet flight from Miami to Italy, slated for a 9 PM departure. He was taken into custody an hour prior to this flight’s scheduled takeoff.

During his discussion on the Law & Crime Network, Bradford Cohen expressed that it was peculiar for Durk to reserve flights to nations that maintain extradition agreements with the United States. He stated that it would have made more sense if Durk had booked a one-way ticket to countries like Vietnam or Morocco, which don’t cooperate in extraditing individuals to the U.S.

“All the countries he booked flights to, like Dubai and Switzerland, have extradition agreements. If he wanted to escape, choosing a destination like Vietnam or Morocco would be the logical move,” Cohen commented.

Bradford Cohen is a seasoned criminal defense attorney with notable clients such as Kodak Black, Drake, and Travis Scott in his portfolio.

Following the arrest of five of his associates from the Only The Family group in connection to Lul Pab’s murder in Chicago, Lil Durk was apprehended in Miami. He is currently being held at Broward County Jail.
