Kingdom Come: Deliverance Receives Major Next-Gen Update
Despite its initial rough edges, the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance forged a unique space in the realm of medieval open-world role-playing games. This immersive experience allowed many enthusiasts to overlook its technical issues, particularly on platforms like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
As of today, the inaugural title from Warhorse Studios is set to shine for console players, thanks to the long-awaited Next-Gen Update. This upgrade is now available on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, enhancing the game’s performance significantly.
During the recent Warhorse Studios Anniversary Celebration Stream, the developers announced that the update invites gamers to “experience Henry’s journey like never before.”Notable improvements include a boost in performance, now offering up to 60 frames per second, ultra-quality settings, and enhanced visual assets. The brief launch trailer effectively illustrates how these enhancements elevate the gaming experience, while cross-generation save transfers simplify returning to the captivating world of 15th-century Bohemia.
While the enhancements in visual quality and asset improvement are certainly appreciated, the most significant advancement in the Next-Gen Update is undoubtedly the improved framerate. Previous consoles often struggled to maintain a steady framerate of 30 FPS, particularly in bustling cities or adverse weather conditions like rain, which hindered immersion and enjoyment of the adventure.
All concerns surrounding the original have been effectively addressed in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, which launched last year on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. This sequel, featuring Henry of Skalitz on his unforgettable journey, has received rave reviews, with Chris Wray noting in our 10/10 review: “Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is a resounding success, providing one of the most credible game worlds, enriched with intriguing quests and enhancing the compelling systems of its predecessor.”
