The quest commences with Henry’s release from imprisonment, while Hans faces execution. To atone for his misdeeds, Henry is tasked with physical labor, which fortuitously grants him access to the castle. His first assignment involves hauling three bags of coal to the Blacksmith’s coal shed, located near the front gate and up the hill on the left side.

Upon delivering the coal, speak with the Blacksmith, who is in conversation with a guard just south of the coal shed. Henry should offer assistance to the Blacksmith, which leads to a request to forge a horseshoe destined for Kabat in the stables. However, players can skip this task for efficiency and head directly to the chapel where Captain Thomas is confined. Stealth is crucial in this mission, as engaging guards directly can result in dire consequences.

To progress, exit the forging area and proceed left towards the stone steps. In the subsequent courtyard, you’ll encounter two doors, one guarded. Ascend the wooden staircase on the right just past the stone steps.

Keep a low profile, as guards are on patrol. Follow the staircase as it winds right and continue down a hallway leading to a green door. Enter this green door, then take the door on the right. Always close doors behind Henry to decrease the likelihood of being detected. The next room features another green door as well as an open exit at the back. Go through the latter to find a staircase leading to a neighboring area, where a guard is positioned at another staircase.

To distract the guard, have Henry throw a rock from a crouched position to lure him away. Seize the opportunity to ascend the stairs swiftly. Continue climbing the spiral staircase until reaching the top of the tower, where a feeble Thomas, along with his sister, awaits.

After conversing with Thomas’s sister, she directs Henry to seek out the physician’s alchemy room and his notes containing vital information for concocting a remedy. The physician’s study is located in the Crone, another restricted section of the castle.

Stealthily make your way back to the Blacksmith area. Hide in the corner next to a wooden chest and steal the bag from the shelf, which contains a Lockpick—valuable for later use. Next, head to the door beneath the tall wooden staircase, situated across from the Blacksmith’s workspace. Inside this pantry, take the Dried Trout located at the back.

Upon exiting the pantry, proceed upstairs to the kitchen area. A guard is posted there and will prevent Henry from going further, but if you offer the Dried Trout to a hungry guard in the kitchen, he’ll allow passage up the stairs behind him. Keep in mind that this area remains restricted, so vigilance is necessary to avoid other patrolling guards.

Ascend the three flights of stairs leading to a stone hallway, followed by a rightward spiral staircase that leads to a wooden set. Continue until you reach a red door; this opens into a hallway containing two rooms opposite each other.Enter the right door to access the physician’s office. Inside, you’ll find the woman from the pond rummaging through items. After a brief dialogue, she exits, allowing Henry to investigate unhindered.

To prepare the Fever Tonic and aid Thomas, players need to utilize the physician’s alchemy bench. Fortunately, all necessary ingredients are stored in a locked chest within the office. Use the previously acquired Lockpick to access the chest and retrieve the following components: Feverfew, Elderberry, and Ginger.

Follow these steps to concoct the Fever Tonic:

  1. Pour wine into the cauldron.
  2. Add three handfuls of Feverfew to the cauldron.
  3. Grind the Elderberry with the mortar and pestle and set it aside.
  4. Boil the Feverfew for two turns of the hourglass.
  5. Add the ground Elderberry to the mixture.
  6. Introduce two handfuls of Ginger.
  7. Remove the cauldron from heat and pour the tonic into a phial to complete it.

Finally, players must deliver the freshly brewed Fever Tonic to Thomas without attracting the guard’s attention. Stealthily navigate back to the top of the chapel or choose to make a break for it. Once entering Thomas’s room, a cutscene will automatically play, concluding the quest.
