Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – Locations for Finding a Crossbow

In the world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, crossbows offer significantly greater power compared to standard bows. Although they come with a slower reload time, their effectiveness in combat makes them valuable tools tailored to various play styles.

Players do not initially start with a crossbow, but acquiring one early in the game is entirely possible with the right strategy. If you can gather some in-game currency, here’s where you can find your first crossbow.

One of the earliest opportunities to buy a crossbow occurs in the first town after the prologue: Troskowitz. For those prepared with some Groschen, head to the Carpenter located just beyond the wooden wall south of the town square during daylight hours. This merchant stocks two notable crossbows:

  • Old Field Crossbow Old Field Crossbow – Costs 66.3 Groschen
  • Old Hunting Crossbow Old Hunting Crossbow – Costs 25.4 Groschen

Additionally, the Carpenter also provides vital ammunition in the form of Crude Bolts. Be sure to load these bolts in the designated panel alongside your crossbow to use them effectively. Typically, mid-sized to larger towns feature a Carpenter who supplies a range of crossbows, bows, bolts, and arrows—essential for players focusing on ranged combat.

Another early opportunity to bolster your crossbow arsenal is found at the Archery Range located south of Trosky Castle. Here, players can participate in an Archery Contest, which not only allows you to earn Groschen but also introduces you to another merchant who sells crossbows.

Player Over Bandits

Purchasing a crossbow can be quite the investment early in your journey. To accumulate Groschen quickly, venture out into the world and seek out bandits. If you manage to defeat them, loot their weapons and armor and then sell these items to a Blacksmith, Carpenter, or general Trader for a profit.

In addition to this, explore the towns for simple side quests that offer decent rewards for minimal effort. Another way to generate income is by crafting at the Blacksmith’s, although this can become a repetitive and tedious task. While financial growth may be slow at the beginning, successfully arming yourself will enable you to tackle more challenging quests, leading to larger rewards down the line.
