Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – Guide to Choosing Whether to Turn Semine In (Necessary Evil)

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Henry faces a critical dilemma during the “Necessary Evil”quest after uncovering significant information from an imprisoned bandit. This revelation ties into a larger conspiracy involving a rebellion linked to the bandits who initially attacked Henry’s party.

Olda Semine has been implicated in these bandit activities that threaten Otto von Bergow and the region’s stability. Consequently, Henry is left to decide whether to expose Semine’s actions to von Bergow or allow him to focus solely on combating the bandits. This guide aims to help players navigate this challenging decision effectively.

Upon conversing with the captive and selecting the appropriate dialogue options, Henry will learn about Olda Semine’s direct involvement with the bandits in their assault against von Bergow during the “Easy Riders”quest. It appears that Olda’s family may also be implicated, although the prisoner refutes this claim. Hans is uncertain about the next step and ultimately defers the decision to Henry regarding whether to inform von Bergow of Semine’s involvement.

Don’t Turn Semine In Outcome

When ready to share their findings, Henry and Hans confront von Bergow along with his guard captain, Hashek. Players will have to choose between two main social options regarding Semine: “Young Semine is in league with the Bandits”or “Nobody helped the bandits here.”

Opting to falsely claim that no one assisted the bandits will conclude the main quest, albeit requiring a significant skill check if Henry previously indicated that Olda departed early from von Bergow’s wedding.

Should players decide to inform von Bergow of Semine’s culpability, he will send Henry and Hans, accompanied by Hashek, to confront the Semine family. Hashek’s demeanor is immediately aggressive, urging Lord Semine to surrender Olda for prosecution. This situation escalates as Semine demands to understand the circumstances, giving Henry the choice: “We’ll sort it out peacefully”or “Hashek is right.”Despite Semine’s objections, Hashek pressures for Olda’s surrender, revealing that while Olda has committed some offenses, he claims no direct harm was done.

Side With Semine

Choosing a diplomatic approach can lead to an alliance with Semine, resulting in a confrontation with Hashek and von Bergow’s forces. If players prefer this route, they will need to select from the following responses:

  1. You can’t do that!
  2. You’re going too far!
  3. I’m going to stop this.

A battle will ensue, forcing players to defeat all of von Bergow’s soldiers. After the conflict, Henry and Hans must contrive a cover story, fake the deaths of Olda and Lord Semine, and then destroy their estate. When reporting back to von Bergow, it is easier if Hans takes the lead in conversation. A confession about turning on Hashek could lead to dire consequences for Henry.

Side With Hashek

Alternatively, players can choose to align with Hashek to bring Semine to justice by selecting these responses:

  1. Hashek is right.
  2. We have a witness.
  3. Listen to him, Semine!
  4. Hashek is right.

This decision similarly leads to combat, where players must defeat Semine’s forces. Following the battle, Hashek will demand the execution of Olda and the annihilation of the remaining civilian population within the fortress, regardless of Henry’s protests.

To locate Olda, players must navigate Semine’s fortress while Hashek’s men systematically search for him. Olda can be found at the top of the mansion, where a brief dialogue will occur before Henry must choose whether to apprehend him or allow him to escape. If players opt to let Olda go, a confrontation with Hashek and his men will be inevitable, resulting in similar outcomes as siding with Semine, necessitating a lie to von Bergow.

Should players decide to arrest Olda, they will return to Trosky to inform von Bergow. At this juncture, Henry can either condemn Hashek’s brutality or choose silence, concluding the quest and paving the way for subsequent developments.
