How to Acquire a Torch
In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, torches are easy to find. The very first one can be obtained from the body of a fallen character during the “Fortuna”main quest. Make sure to loot the “dead bastard”before assisting Bozhena with the burial, as he carries a torch you can claim.
This theme of looting is prevalent throughout the game—virtually every enemy you defeat will also have a torch ready for you. Beyond looting, players can purchase torches from merchants. One notable vendor is Jurg Thomel, located in Troskowitz at the “Trader” marked on your map. He sells a torch for a modest price of just 4.8 Groschen.
Equipping Your Torch
Once you have acquired a torch, the next step is to equip it. Navigate to your Inventory tab where you’ll find it alongside your other items. To equip the torch, press the main command button specific to your platform (X for PS5, A for Xbox, and E/Enter for PC).This action will place the torch in Henry’s currently held inventory.
If equipped correctly, the torch’s icon will appear next to Henry’s character model in the Inventory screen, indicating it is ready for use.
How to Use Your Torch
To use the torch, hold down the d-pad on your controller or press R on your keyboard. When using a gamepad, keep in mind that a long-press meter will appear at the bottom of your screen. Once filled, Henry will draw the torch, which is already lit and will not extinguish, allowing you to traverse dark areas safely.
Be cautious, though—if you merely tap the d-pad, you will return to your Inventory menu, leaving Henry without the torch drawn. To put the torch away, simply hold down the d-pad or press R again.
It’s important to note that the torch does not deal damage or start fires, so you won’t accidentally harm NPCs or set structures ablaze. However, when engaging in combat at night, be mindful that drawing your torch will take the place of your shield if you typically hold one in your left hand. Therefore, it’s wise to stow your torch before entering a fight if you plan on utilizing your shield.
