In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, players have the flexibility to adopt various gameplay styles for the character Henry. Whether choosing to engage in battles as a knight wielding brute force or opting for a more diplomatic route to enhance charisma, players can also effectively employ stealth to navigate challenges without direct confrontation.
Utilizing poison presents a strategic alternative for players seeking to avoid brutal conflicts, particularly in skirmishes against large groups. Bandit camps, often laden with valuable loot such as weapons and apparel, can pose a significant threat. Consequently, employing poison can simplify the task of dismantling these camps by negating the need for a head-on battle. Below is a comprehensive guide that encompasses all necessary steps for players interested in utilizing poison against bandit camps in KCD2.
How to Poison Bandit Camps

Throughout the expansive world of Bohemia, enemy bandit camps can often be located outside settlements, particularly in areas like Apollonia. Players will find these camps hostile upon sight. Upon discovering a bandit camp, it will be marked on the player’s map. Engaging multiple enemies during daylight hours can be unwise unless the player is heavily armored and well-equipped. A more effective strategy involves poisoning their food or drink to eliminate them with minimal effort.
Acquiring Poison

Before targeting an enemy camp, players must ensure they possess poison in their inventory. There are two primary methods for obtaining poison:
- Purchase poison from specific merchants.
- Craft poison at an Alchemy Bench.
Due to its illicit nature, poison cannot be found at all merchants. However, players can visit specific sellers such as the Herbalist Barnaby located north of Trosky Castle. He offers a variety of poisons along with recipes and necessary ingredients. Additionally, players may find poison and crafting recipes from Aranka at the Nomad Camp, although the costs can be steep, so players should come equipped with Groschen.

Henry has access to three distinct types of poison, detailed in the table below:
Type of Poison | Effects |
---|---|
Bane Poison | Prevents running and reduces health by 110 over 45 seconds. |
Dollmaker Poison | Prevents running and reduces weapon skills by 3; gradually decreases health by 20. |
Lullaby Poison | Drains energy completely, decreases perception, and reduces stamina and regeneration by 10% for a quarter of a day. |
Among these, Bane Poison is the most effective choice for neutralizing enemies in bandit camps, though Dollmaker Poison may be employed as a secondary option.
Applying Poison in Enemy Camps

Once equipped with the chosen poison, players can proceed to poison the bandit camp. Typically, camps are outfitted with a cooking cauldron and a drink barrel. Successfully poisoning the camp requires stealth; Henry must pour the poison into either the cauldron or barrel without attracting attention.
Timing is crucial as not all enemies eat or drink simultaneously. Therefore, targeting the food supply usually yields more reliable results. Engaging stealthily is key; waiting until night allows Henry to act undetected. Various clothing options can enhance stealth capabilities. Players should observe the camp’s schedule since enemies tend to eat after waking up and prior to bedtime. If the option arises, Henry can create distractions, such as throwing rocks or having Mutt bark, to divert attention away from the cooking pot.

After spiking the food, it’s imperative to ensure that the majority of the bandit camp consumes the poisoned meal simultaneously. Otherwise, there is a risk that someone may notice the food has been altered and prepare a new dish. The effects of Bane Poison kick in rapidly, and if sufficient enemies ingest it, Henry will likely succeed in incapacitating most, if not all, of them. After the chaos ensues, he can deal with any remaining foes as required.
