As players embark on the main quest titled Taking French Leave in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Lord Ruthard assigns the protagonist, Henry, the crucial task of speaking with his daughter, Rosa. During their conversation, Rosa provides Henry with valuable guidance on infiltrating the family’s ancestral castle, Maleshov, where Sir Hans Capon is being held captive.
In addition to the castle rescue mission, Rosa shares her fondness for a book left behind in the castle grounds. To open up a potential romantic subplot with Rosa Ruthard in KCD2, Henry has the chance to inquire, “What book is that?“, followed by his promise, “I’ll bring the book, fear not!“.This interaction triggers the Rosa’s Book task, which is exclusively available during the Taking French Leave quest.
Locating Rosa’s Book in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Upon successfully navigating through the secret tunnel and entering Maleshov castle during the Taking French Leave quest, the first task for players is to acquire a set of keys.
Acquiring the Keys for the Castle Tower

To the immediate right of Henry’s starting point, there is a guard who is relatively easy to ambush. Players can choose either to pickpocket him, provided they possess sufficient Thievery skills, or to knock him out and take his keys.
If opting for more aggressive methods—such as knocking out or eliminating the guard—be sure to conceal the body to avoid raising alarms.
Gaining Access to Maleshov Castle’s Main Tower

Armed with the tower keys, players should explore the vicinity of the main tower of Maleshov. Stealthily bypass all guards as they make their way to the wooden staircase.
Once they ascend the stairs, the door can be unlocked with the keys, granting access to the second of the tower’s four floors.
Navigating to the Third Floor
As players proceed left towards the internal staircase leading to the third floor, they may overhear two guards conversing with a lady. If so, it’s advisable to remain hidden in the adjoining kitchen until the guards sit down at a table.
Once the coast is clear, players can safely ascend to the third floor. Upon arrival, they will encounter two doors. They should cautiously enter the left door and silently approach the Lady Ofka, knocking her out and confiscating her keys for future use.
Finding Rosa’s Book

Rosa’s prized book is located in the room occupied by the lady. It can be found on the far side of the room, positioned near the window, identifiable by its red cover and titled A Book of Humourous Anecdotes.

Upon retrieving the book, players will complete this objective and Henry will be directed to return it to Rosa.
Concluding the Quest
To successfully wrap up the Taking French Leave quest and present the book to Rosa, Henry must continue his ascent upstairs and employ a lockpick to unlock the door on the left.
Inside, Hans will provide further instructions for the quest ahead.
Returning the Book to Rosa in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Following the completion of the Taking French Leave quest, Henry enjoys a brief window of freedom before he must attend an important council meeting with King Sigismund in Kuttenberg.
Players keen to fulfill the Rosa’s Book task should aim to return to Rosa promptly, ideally before attending the council meeting. To enhance his chances of impressing her, Henry is advised to read—or at least open—the book prior to their conversation, as she will inquire if he has done so.
