Upon arriving in Kuttenberg, players encounter numerous side quests that enrich their game experience. One such quest involves meeting a Humble Knight located northeast of Old Kutna. This knight shares his longing for Sir Valentine‘s illustrious sword and asks you to visit the chapel to retrieve it on his behalf.
This article serves as a comprehensive guide to the The Reliquary quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, outlining step-by-step actions and the potential rewards based on your choices throughout the quest.
Step-by-Step Guide to The Reliquary Task
Locating the Sword in the Chapel

To commence the quest, mount your horse and travel to the graveyard near Sedletz Monastery. An optional task awaits where you can speak with Brother Morticus, activating the Thou Art But Dust side quest, which involves collecting and arranging bones in the chapel.

Once ready, proceed inside the chapel and interact with the trapdoor. A cutscene will play out as you fall into the crypt below. After the scene concludes, head through the east doorway until you find a sarcophagus. Here, examine it for any loot, although you will not find Sir Valentine’s sword. Your objective will be to inspect the lid of the sarcophagus.
Crafting a Replica of Sir Valentine’s Sword

Your next mission is to forge Sir Valentine’s sword in the city of Kuttenberg. You will need the following materials:
- Copper
x1
- Straight Sword Guard
x1
- Cow Skin
x1
- Coin Sword Pommel
x1
- Frankfurt Steel
x1
- Scrap Metal
x1
All materials except the Straight Sword Guard are available from any Armourer; you can obtain the Guard exclusively from a Swordsmith. After gathering all necessary components, visit any Blacksmith, and begin forging the sword. When crafting a long sword, ensure to hammer in a straight line on both sides for best results.
Returning the Sword and Handling the Confrontation

Once you have forged the sword, return to the Humble Knight. He will reveal his true intentions to sell the swords and express that he must eliminate you to protect his secret. You have the option for a speech check to avoid conflict and earn St. Appolonia’s Tooth, but engaging him in combat can be more rewarding, as he carries high-quality armor and valuable items that fetch a good price.

Should a battle ensue, note that the quest completes as soon as the fight begins. You may choose to escape on horseback if preferred. After the encounter, check the nearby storage box for additional Groschens and another piece of jewelry to enhance your earnings.
