The highly anticipated Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set to launch in just under two weeks. As excitement builds, the developers have unveiled an extensive roadmap outlining anticipated updates and expansions planned for 2025. While the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance launched with substantial content and five downloadable content packs in subsequent years, Warhorse Studios is gearing up for even more ambitious expansions this time around.
Players can look forward to equipping Henry with an array of impressive new weapons and armor to assist him in Kuttenberg. However, utilizing these advanced tools will require players to enhance Henry’s skills. Notably, one of the upcoming expansions will emphasize a skill that was underutilized in the first installment, creating a fresh gameplay experience.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 DLC Will Highlight Blacksmithing
Henry Will Follow in His Father’s Footsteps

At the beginning of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, players meet Henry, the son of a blacksmith in Skalitz. The narrative kicks off with his father crafting a sword for their liege-lord, Radzig Kobyla, only for it to be stolen during the game’s prologue—a pivotal moment in the storyline. However, following this introduction, Henry’s blacksmithing talents fade into the background. The developers aim to rectify this oversight in the second expansion, titled Legacy of the Forge.
Slated for release in autumn 2025, the Legacy of the Forge expansion will allow players to cultivate their own forge from scratch. This once-renowned facility will enable the crafting of masterfully designed weapons, though it’s still unclear if Henry will personally use these creations. The narrative will delve into Henry’s father, Martin, as he navigates through the challenges of loss and the brutalities of medieval warfare.
Why Focus on Blacksmithing in KCD2?
Forge Henry’s Legacy

Blacksmithing is an ideal focal point for both the main game and its DLC expansions. In the initial release, Henry’s skills as a blacksmith seldom came into play during quests, with players primarily using blacksmith kits merely for weapon repairs when away from a town’s swordsmith. Given the game’s dedication to historical accuracy, the minimal focus on Henry’s blacksmithing was a missed opportunity.
As players face more formidable adversaries in KCD2, coupled with access to superior materials and tools in the expansive city of Kuttenberg, it becomes a natural progression for Henry to utilize his skills in blacksmithing to forge more potent weapons and fortify his armor. Implementing new mechanics in a sequel is essential for enhancing gameplay, and introducing a specialized blacksmithing skill distinct from previously established skills like alchemy and herbalism will promote greater self-sufficiency for Henry. So far, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 appears to be making all the right decisions, and fans won’t have to wait much longer to explore these transformative changes themselves.
