Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – Comprehensive Walkthrough for Back In The Saddle Quest

Overview of the Quest – Back In The Saddle

Following Lord Otto von Bergow’s heroic intervention saving Sir Hans from execution in the “For Whom the Bell Tolls”quest, a new diplomatic mission arises. Sir Hans and his squire, Henry, are tasked to venture to Nebakov Fortress for negotiations with the local knight in charge.

Although the quest is straightforward and can be completed swiftly, players have a multitude of choices and tasks to undertake throughout the “Back in the Saddle”mission in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Steps to Successfully Complete Back In The Saddle

Nebakov Fortress

To kick off the quest, players must converse with Chamberlain Ulrich, who guides Henry to a resting location where players can save their game and replenish their equipment from Henry’s chest.

Next, players should engage with Hired Hand Kabat for horse selection. They can choose between the familiar Pebbles or the statistically better horse, Herring, while also receiving riding tips.

Don’t forget to equip your chosen horse with essential tack, including a saddle and bridle. Following this preparation, it’s an excellent time for further exploration or side quests, as there are no pressing time constraints.

Journey to Nebakov With Sir Hans

Once ready, players can speak with Hans to embark on their journey to Nebakov. Look out for a dialogue option marked with a heart, which may signify the beginning of a potential romantic thread between the two characters, focused on rekindling their friendship after recent misadventures.

While traveling, Hans will engage Henry with various questions, to which players can choose from several responses without significant consequences. Additionally, Hans extends an invitation for a brief race; however, players need not stress over winning, as Hans is designed to triumph.

Players are presented with the choice to fast travel or ride directly to Nebakov, the latter of which offers an opportunity to boost Henry’s Horsemanship skill through manual riding.

Arrival at Nebakov & Engaging with Michael

Michael the Adjudant

Upon arrival, Hans confers with Sir Jaromir, while Adjutant Michael takes charge of showing Henry around. It’s advisable to engage in a meal with Michael, where players can inquire about the abundant horses owned by Jaromir, as this tidbit could prove pivotal in the future.

Moreover, players have the chance to spar with Michael in a friendly duel. This encounter may present a challenge for those lacking combat experience, but victory yields a reward of Rowel Spurs.

Regardless of the duel’s outcome, Michael will inform Henry of Klara, who resides just downhill and offers healing services. Not only is this a beneficial stop for recovery, but it may also present a romantic avenue with Klara.

Seeking the Truth About Nebakov’s Horses

Villager with Information

At this point, Henry has the freedom to pursue leads to uncover how Lord Jaromir manages his impressive 15 horses. A suggested step is to venture outside the fortress and locate a brown-clad villager who hints at following him into the woods. He unveils some insider information about Nebakov’s dubious operations.

Competing in the Horse Race for Intelligence

Pertzel Horse Race

After gathering information from the villager, Henry can return to converse with Pertzel, a horse handler stationed by the stables. Depending on Henry’s skills and attire, players may collect vital information from Pertzel directly.

If not, a horse race becomes necessary to pry secrets from him. To enhance winning chances, steer clear of the main path by cutting down the slope on the right and taking another shortcut on the return leg.

Victory not only earns Henry the Bravante Saddle but also reveals Pertzel’s conflicting narrative regarding the horses, heightening suspicions when compared to Michael’s version and the earlier villager’s insights.

Locating the Key & Engaging with the Prisoner

Key Location

Make your way back to the fortress, zeroing in on the area where Henry spoke with Michael. Locate a guard near a door with another door positioned above. Ascend to access the upper door, which leads to a room where a key for the prisons resides on a table.

Exercise caution as this area is restricted; stay stealthy, avoid causing noise, and close all doors behind you upon exiting.

Nebakov Prison Door

Now, return to the guard at the lower door and persuade him that Sir Jaromir calls for his assistance. A successful skill check allows you to unlock the prison and converse with the captive. Combining this information with prior discoveries will provide Henry ample troubling news to relay to Hans and Lord von Bergow.

Await Hans & Return to Trosky

Players may spend this time engaging in optional tasks or nothing at all while they await Sir Hans’ appearance. Once found outside the fortress, Hans and Henry can utilize fast travel to ride back to Trosky.

Upon arrival, players can choose to confer with von Bergow immediately or explore additional options. Confronting Otto von Bergow enables Henry to disclose the unsettling truths he has uncovered regarding Nebakov, thus concluding the “Back in the Saddle”quest in KCD2. Should Henry choose a different path and miss the revelations, the mission will still wrap up similarly.
