After finishing the quests Via Argentum and The Thieves’ Code in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, players will encounter a Thieves’ Guild messenger while traversing the roads. This meeting prompts Henry to revisit the Hole in the Wall tavern located in Kuttenberg, initiating a new side quest titled The Spark.
The Spark features two potential endings determined by Henry’s decisions during the quest, along with a hidden achievement that intriguingly requires Henry to meet his demise. This article will provide a comprehensive walkthrough and explore every possible outcome associated with The Spark.
How to Trigger The Quest

To kick off The Spark, it’s essential for Henry’s fast travel to be interrupted by a guild messenger. This interruption will only occur following the completion of Via Argentum and The Thieves’ Code. The specific location where this occurrence happens is random, so players should engage in general exploration. In my experience, the messenger appeared after three days during one playthrough and a week in another. Therefore, don your chosen footwear and execute fast travels until the messenger guides you to the Hole in the Wall.
Understanding the Mission

Once you arrive at the tavern, locate Chenyek at his usual post. Engage in conversation, where he will unveil his scheme to sabotage Sigismund’s silver supply by blowing up the silver mine that is crucial to the kingdom’s wealth.
Choosing Between Knuckles and Chenyek

After discussing matters with Chenyek, players have the option to talk with Knuckles, thereby opening up an alternative route within the quest. The ideological divide among the guild members has deepened, leading Knuckles to request Henry to assassinate Chenyek.
While completing The Spark for either character is possible, siding with Knuckles presents a more challenging path with a significantly lower reward. If you choose to go with Knuckles, aim to eliminate Chenyek at night, when he’s alone in his tavern quarters, minimizing the risk of attracting guard attention.
Conversely, if Henry decides to ally with Chenyek, there’s an opportunity to warn him about Knuckles’ assassination plan and even to deal with Knuckles first. Eliminating Knuckles discreetly during the night can yield additional dialogue interactions later with Chenyek, leading to a more favorable conclusion of the quest.
Acquiring Black Powder

No matter your decision, the quest will eventually intersect with Eldris, the Gunmaker, located just south of the tavern. Engaging in conversation with him provides insight into acquiring black powder. While you can gain information through speech checks—Bribery or Intimidation being the simplest—Eldris ultimately reveals he is unable to provide the powder himself but can guide you to his competitor located outside town.

Traveling north from the city, encounter a group of men near a cart led by Whisker, who is prepared to sell the black powder. If you find yourself short on Groschen, you can either opt to confront them or attempt to steal the goods covertly. In my initial playthrough, I resorted to violence out of sheer curiosity; however, I ultimately decided that purchasing the keg would be the easiest route.
As a side note, if you aspire to uphold the law, reporting the thieves’ guild to Bailiff Plümel is part of the Civic Duty quest. Bear in mind that siding with the guards will prevent you from completing The Spark.
Mission Setup: Oh Me, Oh Mine

Once the black powder keg is secured, make your way to Grund where you will meet Goliath and additional guild members. After discussing the plan with Goliath—who aims to create a diversion by setting a fire—Henry will need to infiltrate the mine under the cover of darkness to plant explosives.
In historical contexts, arson often rated as serious as murder.
Unlocking the Silly Secret Achievement

Opting to bypass Goliath and kill him instead would lead to unlocking a hidden achievement. After eliminating Goliath, the previous meeting spot will present a prompt that allows Henry to throw the black powder keg into an open fire nearby. This decision yields catastrophic yet predictable results, but it will earn you a unique trophy!
Executing the Plan: Destroying the Silver Mine

If you choose to stay alive for the next sequence, Goliath will lead you into the mines. At the fork within the mine, take the right path and continue deeper until you find a wooden beam with a cloth indicating the spot to place the keg. After setting the explosives, you need to make a hasty retreat. Be mindful that you have around two minutes to escape, so follow your steps back and veer left at the fork towards the exit.

Henry will experience a scripted interruption in his escape due to the explosion’s shockwave. Fortunately, this is a scripted moment—you will not face death. Goliath heroically drags you out, but just as you make your escape, guards catch wind of the incident.

Engaging in dialogue may provide an avenue to avoid combat; however, the impression check is notoriously challenging given Henry’s appearance post-explosion. Personally, I chose to engage the guards with my sword, presenting them with the realization that black powder was not the only hazard at play. I could say this was motivated by dissent against their corrupt intentions (serving Sigismund and Wenceslas), but truthfully, they had valuables that I sought to claim.
If Henry had previously eliminated Knuckles, no guards will show up, highlighting that Knuckles possibly betrayed the guild.
No Honor Among Thieves?

Post-conflict, you might notice that some of your possessions are missing—perhaps your boots, or a handful of coin. It turns out that Goliath has pilfered your belongings while extracting you from the tunnel. To reclaim your gear, pursue Goliath as the guild members attempt their escape. A cunning strategy involves waiting for them to separate before taking him out under the cover of night.
Time for Payday

Finally, return to the Hole in the Wall to collect your reward. If you sided with Chenyek and Knuckles is still alive, he will acknowledge that Knuckles’ treacherous days are finished due to his siblings’ intervention. Chenyek will raise a toast in honor of Henry with a generous reward of 150 Groschen. Alternatively, siding with Knuckles will yield a grateful response, but only a payout of 60 Groschen.
Regardless of the choices made, The Spark concludes with Henry gaining wealth, albeit with some battle scars.
