Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: Complete Guide to the Striped Tonies Quest

The Striped Tonies side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 offers players a delightful and lighthearted experience as Henry engages with the miners of Kuttenberg during their unique annual customs. This particular quest allows you to accompany these local miners as they prepare for their much-anticipated pre-archery competition.

Throughout the quest, expect to participate in stealth missions, engaging brawls, matchmaking, and a solemn ceremonial procession laden with tradition. Although the challenges posed by this quest are not overly demanding, players can still enjoy numerous rewards, including an achievement, based on the choices made during their playthrough.

To help you fully maximize your experience and rewards in the Striped Tonies quest, this guide details each step along with tips for completing optional objectives successfully.

Getting Started with Striped Tonies

Valch informs Henry about meeting the crew

Before you can embark on the Striped Tonies quest, players must complete two prerequisite side quests: Speak of the Devil and Yackers ‘n’ Fash. After finishing these quests, locate Foreman Valch in Kuttenberg; he can be found by consulting a local tipster, meeting him at the Black Horse Tavern, or searching the mines during daylight hours.

Upon speaking with Valch, he will request that Henry meet him the following morning at the Black Horse Tavern, which marks the commencement of the quest. Be aware that the quest contains hidden timers; missing the group meeting by noon the next day results in failure, as does not completing the quest by the end of the same day. Ensure that you allocate enough time to take on this quest fully.

Meeting the miners early in the morning

On the designated day, meet the crew on the north side of the tavern between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM. Engage with them and follow the group to their first church. Your dialogue choices here will not influence the quest’s outcome, so feel free to roleplay as you wish. After reaching the church, speak with Anton and select the “revenge” option to initiate the first quest segment.

Hanging Some Braies

Navigating the Saints Inn for the quest

Acquire their dirty underwear (best left unspoken how it got that way) and proceed to the Saints Inn. Take care since the second floor is classified as private property; navigate stealthily through the building while crouching. Start from the top of the stairs, go through the first door on your right, continue through the next door, and then climb the ladder.

Some doors may be locked. If your lockpicking skills are inadequate, consider utilizing a Quickfinger Potion. However, proceed with caution—failed attempts at lockpicking can create noise and alert nearby NPCs. If you’re uncomfortable with stealth, save your game beforehand.

Hanging their undergarments

After reaching the rooftop window, interact with it to hang the underwear, which earns you the “Under a Brown Flag” trophy. Following this, return to your group. You can jump out the window to bypass sneaking through the building again, and don’t hesitate to accept their drink invitation for extra reputation.

Streetwise Ambush

Encountering trouble on the way to the tavern

On your way to the tavern, be prepared for an ambush by a group of Saints led by Preng. This encounter sparks a fistfight, where Henry steps in to protect Anton. Depending on your character’s strength, these tough adversaries should pose a manageable challenge, but proceed with caution as Preng is notably tougher than the others.

Once you’ve successfully fended off the attackers, accompany Anton to the bar and strike up another conversation to trigger the next stage of the Striped Tonies quest.

Flowers for Tess

Navigating to the eastern garden

Follow the quest marker to the eastern garden of Kuttenberg. If you have proficient lockpicking abilities and there are no onlookers, you can enter through the door to the south. Alternatively, scale some barrels to access the garden over the northern wall.

Collecting flowers in the garden

Within the garden, it’s crucial to balance stealth with speed, as a sleeping gardener and an alert dog could raise the alarm. Quickly gather the required flowers (located near the gardener), then escape by vaulting over the barrels at the southern wall.

Visiting the Cobbler for perfume

To obtain the perfume, visit the Cobbler in Kuttenberg and speak with Else in the back. You will need to pass either an Alchemy skill check or two Hard Speech checks to convince her. Don’t worry if your Alchemy skills aren’t top-notch; this isn’t a prerequisite to proceed. However, failing both speech checks will result in Else declining to assist you.

Although the perfume is not mandatory for the quest’s completion, successfully acquiring it alongside the flowers will result in a reward of 175 groschen from Franzi. Just make sure you keep track of time; if you take too long, Franzi might leave the tavern, making it necessary to track him down before continuing.

Carry Anton to the Final Church

Helping Anton to the church

By now, Anton may be too inebriated to walk after all that’s transpired. Assist him by carrying him to the final church, agreeing to stand in for him for the oath-taking ceremony that follows.

Your responses will be timed: to successfully pass this dialogue segment, select the following options:

  • We swear before God, that we will open the shafts without malice and mine the vein honestly according to the law of God.
  • We vow to work hard, listen to the foreman, and duly hand over the ore.
  • We swear to not mine silver on the feast day and give a few groschen to the church.
Taking the oath at the final church

Even if you struggle with the oath section, it does not lead to a quest failure; though, the priest may express his discontent.

Upon completing the final discussion, you will have successfully finished the Striped Tonies quest. This accomplishment will unlock the next chapter in the miners’ storyline, the Popinjay Shoot.
