Among the myriad of quests available to players, one that stands out—though less visible than others—is “Lost Honor.”This particular quest features multiple pivotal choices and pathways, making it essential to navigate carefully. This guide aims to provide a comprehensive, step-by-step approach to successfully completing the Lost Honor quest.
Beginning the Quest
Traveling the Kuttenberg region frequently exposes players to bandit encounters scattered throughout the landscape. One such encounter arises unexpectedly with an old knight-turned-bandit, eager to retrieve his lost heirloom equipment.
To initiate the Lost Honor quest, players must first have completed Main Quest 14: Speak of the Devil. The quest begins by meeting the knight, Jezhek of Holohlavy, at the crossroads south of Horschan, accessible throughout the day.
Trigger this encounter by fast traveling between multiple towns, ensuring the crossroads is on your route. Jezhek will be nearby, attempting to rob you, although he isn’t overly aggressive in his approach.
During this interaction, you will have a range of options that require passing initial skill checks or engaging in combat until he surrenders. Question him about his motives and select the dialogue option “Maybe I can help you”to launch the Lost Honor quest.
The Soldier from Zavish
Jezhek reveals that a soldier stationed in Sigismund’s camp, responsible for the destruction of his village, has stolen his horse and armor. Your mission now is to locate this soldier under the Zavish coat of arms, denoted by a black eagle crest.
Accessing Sigismund’s camp necessitates a negotiation at the entrance, where you can inform the guards that you represent Jezhek. Once inside, you’ll find the soldier likely residing in his tent, located near the central-western area adjacent to the field chapel.
Be cautious when approaching; entering his tent directly might provoke hostility due to your reputation. Instead, wait for him to enter or exit his tent for a safer opportunity to converse.
Upon speaking with the soldier, you can confront him in a duel, provided you meet a demanding Domination or Warfare skill requirement, needing a score of 24. Elevating your Charisma through equipment or the Knight in Shining Armor perk can assist in overcoming this challenge.
If your duel fails, you will have to resort to stealing Jezhek’s gear from a Hard Lock chest beside the tent and retrieving his horse from the stables. While this might damage your reputation with Jezhek, it enables you to complete the quest.
For those taking the thieving route, the key to the chest can be pilfered from the sleeping soldier within the camp.
Strategizing for the Duel
To reclaim Jezhek’s cherished belongings, a series of three combat encounters awaits. The first duel utilizes polearms, transitioning to swords and shields in the second, and culminating with a final engagement using two-handed swords. Winning two out of the three battles establishes your superiority over Zavish.
If you find yourself lacking the necessary weapons, you can purchase all types in Sigismund’s camp, with a blacksmith located north of Zavish’s tent for arms and another to the east for shields.
To balance the odds, consider engaging in battles with local bandit camps to improve your skills, particularly with polearms. I discovered their significance during the Finger of God quest, understanding their efficacy at keeping other foes at bay. Bring a stockpile of these weapons to ensure you’re well-prepared for the duel.
Ensure you don a complete suit of armor, including a helmet visor to prevent Zavish’s strikes from inflicting detrimental bleeding effects. When ready, consume a Saviour Schnapps to save your progress, or manually save before confirming your wager of 300 Groschen with Zavish to commence the battle.
Engaging Zavish in Duel
The three stages of the duel occur in succession, allowing you time to recuperate between rounds by interacting with the Bathmaid Dorothy near the ring. Check your weapon loadout and armor condition before the duel and consider using potions to enhance your performance.
Employing tactics during the polearm stages can lead to victory, but don’t fret if your skills fall short. You have two additional chances to claim victory against Zavish. A recommended strategy is to maintain distance and exploit his lengthy attack animations.
For the subsequent duel, switch to a sword and shield, adapting to your preferred combat style. Using a shortsword or mace during this stage can be advantageous, as focusing on executing master strikes against him can swing the battle in your favor.
In the final encounter, equip yourself with a two-handed sword and remember that Zavish will be adept at countering prolonged combinations. Timing your attacks and employing master strikes strategically can secure your victory.
Upon defeating Zavish in all three duels, you will earn the Master of Masters achievement as a testament to your prowess.
Returning Jezhek’s Gear
After besting Zavish, he instructs you to collect your rewards from his green tent. Loot the chest for your earnings and don’t overlook Jezhek’s horse, Gringolet, identified by its golden-yellow coat in the south stable.
With Jezhek’s possessions in hand, make your way to the inn located on the main road south of Pschitoky. Dismount in the inn’s yard and head inside to update Jezhek on your progress.
While traveling from Miskowitz to Pschitoky, look for the distinctive arches, and lead Gringolet through the left archway into the stable.
If you successfully recovered Jezhek’s belongings, your efforts will be rewarded with 500 Groschen, alongside the Lord of Holohlavy heater shield and Jezhek’s spurs.
