Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Combat Guide: Switching Weapons Effectively

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, players are presented with a diverse array of weapons that can be equipped and utilized in various combinations. Initially, players, like Henry, will start with a single weapon equipped, and when engaging in combat, switching between weapons can be both perilous and cumbersome.

By enhancing your inventory management with the appropriate gear, you can unlock the ability to equip multiple weapons, thereby providing greater flexibility during battles. Below, you’ll find strategies on how to equip more weapons simultaneously, as well as tips for seamlessly switching between them in combat.

Within the player inventory system, your equipped weapons are displayed in the bottom-left corner, where the last eight boxes correspond to the different loadouts you can use. Initially, only the first loadout is accessible. To unlock more loadouts to equip additional weapons, it’s essential to find and equip a belt.

The Hunter’s Belt, which is often the first belt you encounter, allows for a second weapon loadout. To appreciate the capabilities of your belts, review the more information panel in your inventory, where you will find a “Number Of Weapons” category. This indicator specifies how many weapons can be equipped at once. Progressing further in the game enables you to discover superior belts that allow access to up to four weapons simultaneously.

During combat, you have the flexibility to switch weapons at any moment by accessing the menu and selecting a different weapon. However, this method temporarily leaves you vulnerable as you must redraw your weapon after closing the menu. A more strategic approach is to cycle through your available weapons on the belt. You can quickly access the belt menu via the following controls:

  • PlayStation/Xbox: Press Left on the d-pad to bring up the belt menu located in the bottom left, where you can select your desired weapon.
  • PC/Keyboard: Use the number keys 1, 2, 3, or 4 to instantly switch to the respective weapon.

While it’s indeed possible to switch weapons without an upgraded belt, enhancing this aspect can have a significant impact on your combat effectiveness. The menu method presents a gap in your defense, leaving you vulnerable to attacks from enemies, who may capitalize on your moment of inaction. Conversely, selecting a weapon from your belt provides an immediate switch, ensuring you are ready to engage without the risk of being left defenseless.
