Finding Goatskin in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Your first task is to locate Katherine, who possesses valuable information regarding John of Lichtenstein. She is usually found in the Hangman’s Halter, a tavern located in the eastern section of Kuttenberg. However, some players have reported spotting her in Horschan. If you encounter difficulties in finding her in Kuttenberg, don’t hesitate to check there instead.
Katherine’s lead revolves around a character known as Goatskin, making him your primary target for this quest. You’ll need to head east toward the Hole in the Wall tavern. There are two paths you can take to reach Goatskin: approach him through Chenyek, who can be found in the tavern, or inquire about his girlfriend from a person at the Black Horse tavern. Both tactics are valid, and we will outline both methods, starting with Chenyek.
Establishing Chenyek’s Respect
Gaining Chenyek’s respect requires either a strong intimidation or persuasion skill. If you find your attempts unsuccessful—common due to the difficulty of the checks—you’ll need to engage in a fight with a character named Goliath at the tavern’s fight club to earn his favor. It’s a challenging encounter since you have to fight without any armor or weapons.
Alternatively, you can win Chenyek’s trust by purchasing a drink for him at the cost of 200 Groschen. Both methods are viable, and you may also inquire about joining his group for a chance to disrupt the establishment. However, this is not essential for progressing in the quest.
Gaining Leads from Goatskin’s Girlfriend
Whether or not you’ve spoken to Chenyek, you can visit the Black Horse tavern directly. Most patrons will provide similar information, so it doesn’t matter whom you talk to. Among them is Hanka from Prague, who can be found cleaning in the main area. She mentions that Goatskin has been robbing her clients and suggests that “that b***h Mary”has further insights. Mary, located in a smaller room near the kitchen, will have the crucial information you’re after. Be aware that NPCs may change locations throughout the day, but they should be present around the tavern during your visit.
Discuss your interest in Goatskin with Mary. At this point, the quest can branch again. If you successfully pass one of the checks—intimidation tends to be the easiest—Mary will reveal Goatskin’s whereabouts. Alternatively, you can choose to ambush him if your checks fail.
Setting a Trap for Goatskin
If you decide not to ambush him, Goatskin’s hideout can be accessed via the alley behind the tailor’s shop next to the bathhouse. To reach him, enter the alley east of the tailor’s sign, sneak into the barn (though this is technically trespassing, you won’t draw attention), and climb up into the loft. You’ll find a small passage through which you can other navigate and ultimately find Goatskin.
When you confront Goatskin, ask about Samuel. Be prepared for another round of checks, with the impression check categorized as medium. If you’ve engaged with the Schindel’s Toys quest earlier, now’s the time to utilize that knowledge. Expect to pay 150 Groschen for his intel.
Connecting with Samuel
According to Goatskin, Samuel can typically be found near the synagogue during the day or at the King Solomon tavern at night, both located in the city’s northern area. Engage with Samuel and persuade him to collaborate with you.
