Kim Yoo-jung Takes the Lead in Upcoming tvN Drama 100 Days of Lies: Everything You Need to Know

As per an exclusive report from JTBC on October 11, Kim Yoo-jung is set to take on a leading role in the tvN drama 100 Days of Lies, which will be directed by Yoo In-sik. The storyline is set against the backdrop of Gyeongseong, chronicling the adventures of a skilled pickpocket who forges an alliance with the independence movement, ultimately working as a covert operative within the Japanese Government-General of Korea.

The writing for the drama is crafted by Ryu Bo-ri, who has notably contributed to projects such as Do You Like Brahms? and Trolley. Renowned director Yoo In-sik, known for acclaimed series like Dr Romantic and Extraordinary Attorney Woo, is at the helm of this production. He is also slated to work on the upcoming The Wonder Fools, which features Park Eun-bin and Cha Eun-woo.

Kim Yoo-jung’s Character in the Series

In 100 Days of Lies, Kim Yoo-jung is expected to portray the persona of Gyeongseong’s finest pickpocket who becomes embroiled in espionage. Her character will face high-stakes challenges and is anticipated to embody a blend of intelligence and courage.

This drama aims to delve deep into themes of loyalty, survival, and the ethical conflicts faced while living under occupation. It will shine a light on the struggle for Korea’s independence during the era of Japanese colonial rule. With a compelling female lead and a captivating historical context, 100 Days of Lies stands out as one of the most awaited series in tvN’s 2024 schedule.

Kim Yoo-jung: A Brief Overview

Kim Yoo-jung began her acting career as a child in 2003 and quickly garnered recognition, receiving the SBS Drama Award for Best Young Actress in 2008 for her performances in Iljimae and Painter of the Wind. In 2010, she earned accolades at the KBS Drama Awards for Grudge: The Revolt of Gumiho and at the MBC Drama Awards for her roles in Dong Yi and Flames of Desire.

Her transition to leading adult roles commenced with the historical romantic drama Love in the Moonlight in 2016, which earned her the APAN Star Award for Best New Actress along with the Asia Artist Award for Best Icon in Drama.

Yoo-jung has appeared in the romantic comedy Because I Love You, the series Clean with Passion for Now, and Backstreet Rookie. More recently, she starred in the teen romance film 20th Century Girl and in the fantasy-romance drama My Demon.

For her portrayal in My Demon, she received the Top Excellence Award for Best Actress in a Miniseries Romance/Comedy Drama at the 2023 SBS Drama Awards. Remarkably, she made her theatrical debut earlier this year in Shakespeare in Love.

Alongside her anticipated role in 100 Days of Lies, Kim Yoo-jung is actively engaged in other endeavors, currently filming the TVING original series Dear X. Earlier this year, she made a guest appearance in the Netflix series Chicken Nugget, showcasing her versatility in a quirky comedic context.
