The children of American actress and model Kim Porter have denied allegations that their late mother authored a memoir regarding her relationship with Sean “Diddy”Combs. Despite the book’s rising popularity on Amazon, Porter’s children contend that KIM’S LOST WORDS: A Journey for Justice, from the Other Side…, released in early September, is fictional.
The memoir, which purportedly details an abusive relationship with Combs, was published shortly before his arrest in New York. Porter’s children—Quincy, Christian, Jessie, and D’Lila—rejected the memoir’s legitimacy in a joint statement shared on Instagram on September 25.
“Claims that our mom wrote a book are simply untrue. She did not, and anyone claiming to have a manuscript is misrepresenting themselves,”the children stated.
They went on to address individuals promoting the book:
“Any so-called ‘friend’ speaking on behalf of our mom or her family is not a friend, nor do they have her best interests at heart.”
Quincy, who is Kim Porter’s son from a previous relationship but was raised by Combs, joined siblings Christian, Jessie, and D’Lila in condemning the memoir. This marks their first public statement following Diddy’s arrest. The book’s release has reignited speculation surrounding Porter’s passing in 2018, but the children have reiterated that her cause of death was pneumonia and outright dismissed any allegations of foul play.
Controversial Claims Surrounding Kim Porter’s Memoir
The book in question makes alarming claims regarding physical violence, sexual coercion, and abuse allegedly committed by Diddy against Kim Porter. These accusations have sparked wide-ranging speculation, but Porter’s children have adamantly rejected such rumors, stating they were compelled to confront the “hurtful and false narratives”about their mother’s relationship with Diddy.
Published by Jamal T. Millwood “for”Kimberly A. Porter, the memoir has ascended Amazon’s bestseller list following Combs’ arrest and indictment.
There are even theories suggesting that Jamal T. Millwood is an alias for Tupac Shakur, who was affiliated with Death Row Records, a rival to Combs’ Bad Boy Records. Some have speculated Diddy had a role in Shakur’s 1996 shooting death; however, the rapper has consistently denied any involvement.
According to a September 24 report by Rolling Stone, Millwood is actually a pen name for investigative journalist Todd Christopher Guzze, who claims to have received the memoir’s manuscript from two industry sources close to Kim Porter and Combs. Guzze, however, was unable to validate the authenticity of the memoir and remarked:
“If somebody put my feet to the fire and they said, ‘Life or death, is that book real?’ I have to say I don’t know. But it’s real enough to me.”
Kim Porter tragically passed away from lobar pneumonia in November 2018 at the age of 47. After her death, Combs described their bond as being “more than best friends.”Nevertheless, the book’s publication has revived conspiracy theories surrounding her death, a narrative strongly rejected by Porter’s children. They expressed sorrow that the world has “made a spectacle of what has been the most tragic event of our lives.”
Rolling Stone has revealed that Guzze, utilizing the pseudonym Chris Todd, is the author of the book. Guzze, who claims to have worked on several high-profile cases such as Nicole Brown Simpson and the Zodiac Killer, acquired the manuscript from unidentified sources. Despite the ongoing controversy, he maintains his stance that the memoir reflects Kim Porter’s true voice, despite lacking concrete evidence.
Porter’s children reiterated that there was “no foul play”surrounding their mother’s death and requested privacy as they continue to grieve.
“Grief is a lifelong process, and we ask that everyone respect our request for peace as we continue to cope with her loss every day,”the family stated.
They concluded their Instagram statement by urging that their mother be remembered fondly, stating:
“Our mother should be remembered for the beautiful, strong, kind, and loving woman she was. Her memory should not be tainted by horrific conspiracy theories.”
As the situation develops, Kim Porter’s family has made it clear that they desire respect for their mother’s legacy and for the unfounded claims to be dismissed. Diddy’s legal team has also denounced the memoir as “fake,”characterizing it as:
“A shameless attempt to profit from tragedy.”
Currently in custody, Diddy has denied all charges related to his recent arrest, with his next court date set for October 9.
