Since the 1980s, Kevin Costner has firmly established himself as a prominent figure in American cinema. After his departure from the popular series Yellowstone, Kevin Costner is set to embark on a new adventure with Yellowstone to Yosemite with Kevin Costner, a docuseries that explores the stunning landscapes of America. Costner first graced audiences as John Dutton in Taylor Sheridan’s acclaimed neo-Western on Paramount Network, debuting in 2018 and continuing for four and a half seasons before stepping away ahead of season 5, part 2. Following the series finale of Yellowstone, he’s already gearing up for another project.

Fox Nation has announced that Costner will host and serve as an executive producer for the upcoming three-part series Yellowstone to Yosemite, premiering on Saturday, February 8. New episodes will be released weekly. This series marks Costner’s second venture with Fox Nation, following the success of Yellowstone: One-Fifty in 2022.

Yellowstone to Yosemite traces the path taken by Theodore Roosevelt during his 1903 expedition to Yosemite, led by environmentalist John Muir, which played a crucial role in the establishment of Yosemite Valley and Mariposa as part of the national park system.

“Yellowstone to Yosemite with Kevin Costner” will consist of three episodes featuring Costner as he traces the footsteps of the pivotal 1903 Yosemite expedition of 26th President Teddy Roosevelt and environmental advocate John Muir. Through spectacular visuals of the geology, flora and fauna of Glacier Point to El Capitan, Yosemite Falls and more, Costner brings the fascinating journey and long battles to preserve the American frontier to life. Juxtaposed with Costner’s active exploration of the park, each episode delves into the history behind the journey that changed America.

Throughout the voyage, Costner explores the region’s rich Indigenous American legacy, the serendipitous arrival of outsiders in 1850, and how John Muir evolved into a crusader for our wildest places. Through Costner’s perspective, he illuminates the struggle waged by Muir as he contended with the intricate politics of resource management and how Roosevelt’s intervention culminated in the establishment of a more structured National Park System, the creation of 150 National Forests, 5 National Parks, and the preservation and protection of 230 million acres of precious land.

The first is titled Headhunters, directed by Steven Holleran, featuring Costner alongside Chloe East, Daniel Zovatto, and Sam Corlett. This thriller follows an expatriate named Lazer who leads a group of surfers to an uncharted island, only to clash with the ancient tribe that inhabits it.

The second film remains largely under wraps, though it will see Costner reuniting with director Ariel Vroman, who previously worked with him on Criminal in 2016. Vroman described the upcoming project as a “longtime passion project”for Costner, who will also produce and star in the film. Production is expected to commence early this year, promising more details soon. Meanwhile, fans can look forward to Yellowstone to Yosemite, set to debut in February.
