“Keep her far away from a title shot” – Fans disappointed despite Manon Fiorot getting into Islam Makhachev-led elite club after UFC Atlantic City win
Despite her dominant performance at UFC Atlantic City, securing her status as the number one contender in the flyweight division, Manon Fiorot still faces skepticism from some fans regarding her title aspirations.
Despite being evenly matched, Fiorot proved to be the superior fighter against Erin Blanchfiled, winning a unanimous decision after five rounds. Her exceptional striking skills proved to be a major factor in nullifying Blanchfield’s wrestling attempts and she was able to land numerous clean punches throughout the match, solidifying her position among the top fighters in the promotion.
Despite her reputation as a skilled grappler, Blanchfield was unable to successfully execute takedowns and ultimately had to rely on a stand-up fight, which greatly benefited Fiorot.
This victory increases ‘The Beast’s’ UFC winning streak to 7, tying her with Tatiana Suarez for the fourth longest active win streak in the promotion. She joins the ranks of other notable fighters such as Islam Makhachev and Merab Dvalishvili.
Despite the positive reception on social media, there were also some concerns expressed by fans. Comments such as these raised red flags:
“Zero and I mean zero power and zero drawing ability. Let’s keep her far away from a title shot”
“Not too excited for her title contention…”
“Grasso will stop that “hype”train”
“Man that sh*t was boring”
“it works for Grasso”
