KB5065786: Microsoft testing enhanced account management features in Windows 11 latest builds

Today, Microsoft has unveiled the latest builds for the Windows 11 Beta and Dev Insider programs. The new versions are numbered 26220.6690 for the Dev channel and 26120.6690 for the Beta channel, both referenced under KB5065786. These builds introduce a variety of features, enhancements, and some recognized bugs.

Among the new updates, Microsoft is experimenting with advanced account management features directly within the Settings application. Additionally, enhancements related to Copilot are being trialed, focusing on capabilities such as translation and Vision functionalities.

Numerous bugs have also been addressed, including the notorious 0x80070002 Windows Update error and issues with File Explorer crashing. However, Microsoft has updated the known issues section with several new entries following these bug fixes. Below is a detailed changelog outlining the latest improvements:

Changes and Improvements for the Beta Channel

Click to Do (Preview)

New features are currently being rolled out for Click to Do on Copilot+ PCs:

  • Improved Translation Capabilities: Users can now utilize Microsoft Copilot for translations within Click to Do. This feature allows for easy translation of on-screen text when it differs from your Windows display language. Upon selecting foreign text, a translation prompt will appear, seamlessly channeling it through the Copilot app. Note that this feature is not accessible to Windows Insiders in the EEA (European Economic Area) or China.

Settings Section Overhaul

  • The Settings interface has been revamped to streamline account management. The section previously labeled “Email & accounts”has been renamed to “Your accounts, ” consolidating the management of various accounts for improved user connectivity.

Bug Fixes Being Rolled Out

  • Resolved an issue where File Explorer could become unresponsive when a UNC server name was entered directly into the address bar.

Windows Update

  • Fixed a problem that caused certain Insiders to encounter installation failures with error code 0x80070002.

Audio Enhancements

  • Issues with audio not functioning post-update have been addressed. Due to the complexity of audio problems, users experiencing ongoing issues are encouraged to provide feedback through the Feedback Hub under Devices and Drivers > Audio and Sound, ideally attaching issue capture details.

Settings Fixes

  • Corrected a problem affecting loading in Settings > System > Optional Features > Add an optional feature when Administrator Protection was activated.

Current Known Issues

Click to Do Glitches

  • Right-edge gestures for launching Click to Do on the primary display are causing swipe visuals to appear on the wrong screen. This issue is under investigation.

Lock and Login Screen Problems

  • There’s an ongoing investigation regarding missing media controls on the lock screen in this build.

Taskbar Issues

  • [NEW] Recent taskbar animation features have been temporarily disabled due to complications with window sharing, and updates will follow once they’re reinstated.
  • [NEW] Issues have surfaced related to “automatically hide the taskbar”functionality, including unexpected peeking from the system tray. We appreciate user feedback on this matter and are actively working to resolve it.

Search Functionality

  • [NEW] Some searches may return unexpected text rather than the anticipated results or images.

Windows Studio Effects

  • If using certain external webcams, selecting “Use Windows Studio Effects”in advanced camera settings could cause the camera preview to fail stream due to firmware compatibility issues. A fix is scheduled for a future update, while users affected can turn off Windows Studio Effects in camera settings.

For Developers

  • PIX on Windows cannot play back GPU captures in the current OS version. This will be resolved in an upcoming PIX release, anticipated by the end of September. In the interim, affected users can provide feedback via the “Send Feedback” button in PIX or reach out on the DirectX Discord server for assistance with private builds.

Additional Settings Observations

  • Placeholder text in the Settings search box may appear misaligned.
  • [NEW] Crashes may occur when attempting to view drive information under Settings > System > Storage, impacting right-click access via File Explorer as well.

Xbox Controller Issues

  • Some Insiders facing connectivity issues with Bluetooth Xbox Controllers might experience bugchecks on their PC. To mitigate this, access Device Manager via the taskbar search. Under “View, ”select “Devices by Driver”to find the driver named “oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf), ” where “XXX” assumes a unique number on the user’s PC. Right-click and uninstall this driver.
