New Windows 11 Insider Builds Bring Enhanced File Explorer and Update Policy Features
This week, Microsoft unveiled two new Insider builds for Windows 11, specifically targeting the innovative Canary channel with build 27766 and the Beta channel with build 22635.4660. Both updates introduce a range of enhancements, particularly within File Explorer, focusing on improved performance and critical crash fixes.
Hidden Enhancements for Update Management
Beyond the notable changes outlined in the official release notes, the Beta channel build introduces a noteworthy feature that offers significant benefits to IT professionals, system administrators, and tech-savvy users keen on managing their Windows Update settings.
Exploring the Update Policy Improvements
The enhancement was discovered by Windows enthusiast known as phantomofearth, who shared the revelations on social media. The newly integrated “configured update policies”page, located within the Advanced settings of Windows Update, delivers users insightful information regarding the optional and feature update policies configured on their devices.
This update significantly augments the policy page by displaying detailed information about the selected policies, including specific values for Optional and Feature updates. Furthermore, a new “Learn more”link has been added, directing users to an informative Microsoft support article for further understanding.
