KB5043145: Enhance Windows 11 with Taskbar Local File Sharing, Improved Account Switching, and TCP Fix

Microsoft has unveiled a new Release Preview build for Windows 11 Insiders. The builds, 22621.4247 and 22631.4247, released under KB5043145, features a concise but significant list of changes and enhancements. Below is the complete changelog:

Gradual Rollout

These updates may not be accessible to all users immediately due to a gradual rollout. Text highlighted in bold within brackets indicates the specific area of the change being documented.

  • [Start Menu] New! The “Sign out” option is now available in the account manager when you open the Start menu. To switch users, click on the ellipses (…). A list of additional users will appear for easier switching.
  • [Taskbar] New! You can now easily share local files directly from the search results displayed in the Search box on the taskbar.
  • [Settings] New! The Delivery Optimization Settings page has been updated to align with the Windows 11 design. Navigate to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Delivery Optimization.
  • [Windows Share] New! This update removes the search box from the Windows Share interface.
  • [Lock Screen] New! Media controls are now displayed centrally at the lower part of the lock screen while media is playing.

Normal Rollout

This update also includes various features and enhancements that are part of the normal rollout. Text highlighted in bold within brackets indicates the specific area of the change being documented.

  • [IE Mode] Users may experience Microsoft Edge becoming unresponsive when using IE mode.
  • [Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)] There are discrepancies between TCP_INFO_v1 and GetPerTcpConnectionEstats. File synchronization services depend on TCP connection performance analysis tools, affecting their accuracy.
  • [Country and Operator Settings Asset] This update updates COSA profiles for specific mobile operators.
  • [Outlook and Other Encrypted Email Apps] Users may be prompted for their PIN every time they open an encrypted email.
  • [Microsoft Defender for Endpoint] Work Folders may fail to sync when Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is active.
  • [Microsoft Edge] The browser may occasionally become unresponsive when utilizing IE mode.
