Today, Microsoft has rolled out a new Windows 10 C-release preview update identified as KB5043131 and Build 19045.4957. This update is categorized as a non-security optional update and introduces several new features and enhancements. Below is the complete changelog:
Highlights
- [Start Menu] New Feature! This update relocates your profile picture to various positions within the menu. Additionally, a new background color has been applied to the left pane, enhancing the visibility of items. Note that this change may not be accessible to all users immediately as it will be rolled out gradually.
- [IE Mode] Instances where Microsoft Edge becomes unresponsive when operating in IE mode have been addressed.
- [Media Playback] Some media playback may be interrupted when using specific surround sound technologies.
Improvements

- [Country and Operator Settings Asset] This update also refreshes COSA profiles for certain mobile operators.
- [File Explorer and Taskbar] Resolved instances where Windows Server could stop responding during use of applications such as File Explorer and the taskbar.
- [Windows Update Opt-In Notifications] These notifications will now trigger upon signing in.
- [Directory Enumeration] This process may fail when a directory includes symbolic links with extended target names.
- [Microsoft Defender for Endpoint] Sync issues with Work Folders files when Defender for Endpoint is activated.

Post-update installation, users may be unable to change their user account profile picture. When users attempt to change their profile picture through the steps Start > Settings > Account > Your Info, and click on Browse for one under Create your picture, an error message displaying error code 0x80070520 may occur.
Microsoft is currently working on a solution and will provide an update in a future release.
