Rapper Kanye West, now referred to as Ye, is currently embroiled in a legal battle with a former employee who claims he was directed to conduct surveillance on members of the Kardashian family, including Ye’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. It has been reported that the individual was also tasked with monitoring West’s current wife, Bianca Censori.
This lawsuit was initiated on Thursday in Los Angeles, where the former staff member, identified as John Doe, asserts he was employed in December 2022 and assigned various duties that raised significant ethical and legal questions.
According to the lawsuit, John Doe was initially hired as a deputy campaign director and subsequently transitioned to the position of “director of intelligence.”In this role, he alleges he was instructed to conduct investigations against West’s legal opponents and even close acquaintances, including the Kardashian family.
One of the serious allegations is that West purportedly believed the Kardashian family had connections to illicit activities, including s*x trafficking.
“John Doe was also tasked by Ye to investigate the Kardashian family and supposed various criminal links Ye believed they had with criminal enterprises, including alleged s*x trafficking,”reads the lawsuit.
Additionally, Doe claims that Kanye West directed him to enlist private investigators to follow Bianca Censori during her visits to Australia, seemingly as part of a larger scheme of surveillance orchestrated by West.
Claims of Erratic Behavior by Kanye West
The lawsuit contains troubling allegations regarding Kanye West’s purported substance abuse. Reports indicate that in May 2024, coinciding with his dental surgery to install $850,000 worth of titanium teeth, West allegedly began using nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas. Doe claims this led to increasingly erratic conduct from the rapper.
These claims of Kanye West’s nitrous oxide use were previously disclosed by Milo Yiannopoulos, who served as West’s chief of staff until August 2023. Yiannopoulos contended that West’s dentist, Dr. Thomas Connelly, had provided the substance, though Dr. Connelly denied these assertions, labeling them “factually incorrect.”
Retaliation and Emotional Distress Allegations
Reportedly, John Doe’s employment was abruptly terminated after he brought forward allegations of child abuse occurring at West’s Donda Academy, his private educational institution. The lawsuit alleges that following Doe’s report to Yeezy’s leadership, West reacted by making menacing statements.
In an intense confrontation, Kanye West allegedly stated to Doe, “You’re f–king dead to me,”while also playing a recording containing “scary voices”which Doe saw as a direct threat. The lawsuit claims that this hostile work environment, combined with the unethical requests he faced, severely impacted Doe’s mental health, resulting in panic attacks, anxiety, and various forms of emotional distress.
Consequently, he sought medical attention and was admitted to a facility to address these issues.
Legal Claims and Actions
John Doe’s lawsuit, backed by attorneys Neama Rahmani and Ron Zambrano, seeks compensation for retaliation, as well as negligent and intentional infliction of emotional distress, alongside multiple violations of labor laws.
Doe asserts that he is owed wages for several pay periods where he worked full-time without compensation. Furthermore, he claims that his time with West exacerbated pre-existing PTSD, worsening his emotional and psychological health.
Attorney Ron Zambrano, representing John Doe, stated, “Our client is so fearful of Ye and his erratic, disturbing and unpredictable behavior that he wishes to remain anonymous for his own safety.”
This lawsuit adds to a growing list of legal issues facing Kanye West, who has encountered numerous lawsuits from former staff in recent years.
Zambrano emphasized that West’s treatment of his employees reflects an ongoing pattern of unethical behavior, commenting:
“Ye has only himself to blame for his mounting legal troubles. He just can’t keep hiring employees, mistreating them, then denying payment in blatant violation of various employment laws, not to mention the threats he allegedly made in this case.”
As it stands, there has been no response from Kanye West’s representatives regarding the lawsuit.
In addition, Kanye West, who wed Bianca Censori in December 2022, has recently been facing rumors of divorce. Despite the speculation, the couple was spotted together in Tokyo, seemingly putting an end to the separation rumors. Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian finalized her divorce from West in November 2022, with whom she has four children.
