Kang Seung-won Age and Relationship Controversies: Insights from Culinary Class Wars and Black Spoon Chef
Kang Seung-won, widely recognized as the “Triple Star”from the Netflix hit Culinary Class Wars, has gained significant attention for his culinary talents, especially as a prominent “Black Spoon” chef. Nevertheless, his burgeoning career has recently been clouded by revelations regarding his personal life.
On October 30, 2024, Dispatch, a South Korean news outlet, unveiled details concerning Kang’s previous romantic involvements, specifically citing accounts from two unnamed women referred to as “A” and “B.” Reports indicate that Kang Seung-won entered a brief, non-registered marriage with “A” in May 2022, which unfortunately concluded after just three months.
“A” contacted Dispatch sharing her story, claiming she played a crucial role in supporting Kang during the early stages of his career. She alleged that she helped his bid for positions at prestigious Michelin-starred restaurants, such as Atelier Crenn and Benu, through her connections.
Additionally, she mentioned providing high-end Chanel bags to Kang’s professional contacts to facilitate his entry into elite culinary environments. As stated by his former spouse to Dispatch:
“Back then, Kang Seung-won was just a student with little experience. I had heard how significant it is for chefs to work within reputable establishments. Since I was employed at the time, I had many contacts, so I searched for restaurants where he could make an impact.”
Kang, however, refuted these allegations, asserting that his success was a result of his hard work and talent. He contended that any gifts given were solely personal gestures from “A” to her friends. In his own words, he remarked to the publication:
“Do people really believe that a Chanel bag can secure a position in a Michelin-star restaurant? I’m aware that ‘A’ purchased two Chanel bags for ‘X’ and ‘Y,’ but to claim that my job resulted from her gifting? Those bags were just given to her close acquaintances.”
New Allegations Surface Against Chef Kang Seung-won as Ex-Girlfriend Joins Former Wife in Sharing Past Relationships
Furthermore, Kang Seung-won’s ex-girlfriend “B” revealed to Dispatch that their romance ended without warning, claiming he abruptly ceased communication. She later discovered that he had been juggling relationships with both her and “A” at the same time. While Triple Star acknowledged their brief involvement, he clarified it only spanned a couple of months and concluded due to differing perspectives.
In her statement to Dispatch, “B” expressed her discontent regarding Kang’s rising stardom in Culinary Class Wars. She voiced her disappointment that the person she once dated had transformed into a public figure, explaining her hope that audiences would recognize the Kang Seung-won she knew—one she characterized as duplicitous and unreliable.
“I held onto the hurt I experienced, trying to move on and live my life. Yet, watching Culinary Class Wars brought back memories of someone I wished to forget. It pains me to see viewers discussing him positively when I recall the truth behind his facade…
“One day, I hope the reality of his duality will come to light. How many women have you deceived while pretending to be kind? I wish for you to realize how misguided your choices have been throughout your life. I am truly tired of witnessing your insincere persona in the media,”she added.
The controversy intensified when “A” accused Kang Seung-won of sending menacing messages following the onset of her new relationship, some of which had violent undertones.
Kang acknowledged that he messaged her after their breakup but insisted that the interpretation of those messages was incorrect. His legal representative defended him, suggesting emotional complexities may have contributed to these accusations.
With the situation still developing, the chef’s reputation remains under scrutiny, even as he continues his endeavors at Trid in Cheongdam-dong.
