How to make your Pokémon obey in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

If you’re new to Pokemon and Scarlet and Violet are your first forays into the series, you’ll run into some things. Because of the more open structure of this world, you simply won’t get the tutorial right away. And some things are underestimated anyway for you to pay attention and learn on your own. If your Pokémon suddenly stop following your commands, you have encountered one of the traditions of the series. So, here’s how to make your Pokémon obey you.

There are two factors that can cause a Pokémon to think you suck and therefore ignore your commands in combat. Sometimes your Pokémon may ignore you, other times they will not only not do what you ask, but will instead do something else. Basically, if you overexert yourself, your Pokémon will no longer respect you. This may be due to the level being too high or because you received a Pokémon in exchange.

If a friend sells you a strong Pokémon, chances are he won’t listen to you. After all, until that moment it had a completely different owner. And if they get too strong too quickly, your inexperience will turn against you. Fortunately, there is a solution that solves both of these problems at the same time: sports badges.

With two badges, your Pokémon will trust you up to level 30.

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you have three main tasks. There is Victory Road, Legends Road and Starfall Street. In the first one, you are looking for different gyms in the region in order to eventually compete for the championship. By defeating each Gym Leader, you will receive a badge confirming your progress. It is also proof of your competence for your Pocket Monsters team.

When you get the badge, you will be informed that Pokémon up to a certain level will listen to you no matter what. So if you find yourself face to face with a naughty teammate, head to your next gym battle to prove yourself.
