I’ve been playing Pokémon Scarlet since last Friday while the rest of my colleagues were playing power games like a bunch of speed runners. Today I came across this whole sandwich and picnic trick that I’ve only scratched the surface about. And here at Prima we have this thing that if someone has to ask a question, that means a new guide has been born. So it’s entirely my fault that we’re talking here about how to test your eating abilities in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
What I learned about this game is that information is stored in its menu just like I store information in my head. After learning how to make sandwiches, what they actually do, and how to get everything I need for them, I found myself unable to figure out where my current eating abilities are, if at all. Of course, that was the last place I looked.
To view your active food abilities, you need to press “right” on the D-pad. This opens the Notifications menu, where you can quickly view information about things that can change quickly. This way you’ll also see things like the TM machine’s recipe if you’re tracking it, or your current food abilities and how much time you have left with them. If other information appears there, I haven’t seen it yet.
We hope this little guide has helped remind you that in addition to pressing X to view the game menu and minus to open the Pokédex, Map, and Profile views, you also have information that you can access with the D-pad. It turns out that this little thing is good not only for access to the camera, but also for something else.
