Amazon usually charges $139 a year for Prime. But you don’t have to pay that much to get access to the Prime Day sales . There are several cheaper (even free!) ways to earn Prime.
Anyone: Get 30 Days of Amazon Prime Free
If you’ve never subscribed to Amazon Prime before – or maybe even if you did – you can get a free 30-day subscription . This is enough time to shop for Prime Day deals on Amazon and then cancel your subscription later if you don’t want to pay.
We’ve seen reports that Amazon is also offering this free trial to people who haven’t paid for Amazon Prime in the past 12 months. If your Prime membership has expired, visit the Prime signup page and see if Amazon is offering you another free trial.
After 30 days, Amazon will automatically upgrade you to a paid subscription. Be sure to cancel your subscription if you don’t want to keep it. You will keep it until the end of the 30-day period, even if you cancel your subscription immediately.
Students: Get Six Months of Free Prime
Amazon is offering six free months of Prime for students . Amazon will verify that you are a student by sending an email to the email address. edu that you manage.
After that, Prime Student membership will either renew for $69/year or $7.49/month, which is about half the price of a standard Prime subscription. You can choose to keep it for a lower price, or cancel auto-renewal to prevent Amazon from billing you.
EBT or Medicaid: Get Prime at Half Price
If you have an EBT or Medicaid card, Amazon will let you sign up for a cheaper Prime membership . You will get the same 30 day free trial that everyone else can get. Amazon will then bill you $6.99 per month for Prime.
That’s about half the price of a standard Prime subscription, which typically costs $14.99 a month or $139 a year.
Anyone: pay by the month instead of the year
Let’s say you’re not currently a Prime subscriber, but you’re not yet eligible for a free 30-day subscription. Do you have to pay $139 to access these Prime Day sales?
No you do not know. Instead, you can pay for one month of Prime . Sign up for a monthly subscription, pay for one month at $14.99 per month, then cancel your subscription when you’re done. Access to the Prime Day sales will cost you just $14.99. Maybe you can even eat something on Amazon Prime Video while you’re there.
If you’re a frequent Amazon purchaser and want Prime, an annual subscription is a better deal – it’s cheaper. If you just want to use Prime from time to time, the monthly subscription is more flexible.
Family Members: Share Core Membership
Two adult family members can share an Amazon Prime membership. So if your partner or spouse already has a Prime account, you don’t have to pay for your own. You also don’t have to share the same account – you can each have your own personal Amazon account, but a shared Prime membership.
To take advantage of this as a Prime subscriber, you will need to add a second adult account to your ” Amazon Home Family “. This second account will receive Prime benefits for free.
