Kade and Tye Ruotolo thrilled to test their grappling acumen against ‘two beasts’ Izaak Michell and Francisco Lo

Kade and Tye Ruotolo, TWO champion submission grapplers, are eagerly anticipating their upcoming matches against formidable opponents later this week.

The Ruotolo brothers are scheduled to compete at ONE Fight Night 21: Eersel vs. Nicolas on April 5, which will take place at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

The ONE welterweight submission grappling world title will be defended by Tye Ruotolo in the co-headlining bout against Australia’s ONE-debuting Izaak Michell. In a catchweight (180 pounds) submission grappling showdown, Kade Ruotolo will compete against Brazil’s Francisco Lo.

In a conversation with the South China Morning Post, Kade Ruotolo, the current ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion, revealed the siblings’ opinions on their upcoming adversaries, referring to them as formidable opponents on the mat.

“He said:”

“So we’re stoked to see these guys, two beasts. Izaak is ranked underneath Tye at number two, then Francisco Lo is an animal. He’s [Lo] got some great notable wins over [William] Tackett and guys like Jacob Couch and things like that.”

On April 5 in Bangkok, Thailand, Tye Ruotolo will defend his ONE welterweight submission grappling world title for the first time at ONE Fight Night 21. He earned the world championship title in November by defeating Russian Magomed Abdulkadirov via unanimous decision in their match for the inaugural belt.

Tye Ruotolo has maintained an undefeated record in five fights since joining ONE in May 2022, with three of them resulting in submission victories.

Izaak Michell, currently ranked second behind Tye Ruotolo in the men’s 185-pound category of Flograppling’s official no-gi rankings, is determined to dethrone Tye and make his own mark in the promotion. This will be the Australian’s first fight with the organization, and he aims to make it a memorable one by securing a win.

In January, Kade Ruotolo had his third successful defense of the ONE lightweight submission grappling world title against his Norwegian rival Tommy Langaker. He emerged victorious by unanimous decision and is now returning to the ring for his next match.

Kade’s opponent for his ONE Championship debut will be Francisco Lo of Brazil, who is ranked No. 6 in the 185-lb category. This will also be Lo’s first time competing in the organization.

The highly anticipated ONE Fight Night 21 event, featuring Eersel vs. Nicolas, is scheduled to occur at the renowned Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. Fans in the United States can catch all the action live on April 5 during primetime. And the best part? The event will be available for free to viewers in both the United States and Canada, as long as they have an active Prime Video subscription.
