Kade and Tye Ruotolo brothers admit they “definitely thought about” going into separate camps for potential super fight

The current ONE submission grappling world champions, Kade and Tye Ruotolo, have given serious thought to competing against each other in the Circle.

Debuting together at ONE 157 in May 2022, the BJJ duo, known for their exceptional skills, have achieved an impressive milestone of winning a total of 10 consecutive matches under the promotional banner. During this journey, they have made history as Kade Ruotolo clinched the inaugural ONE lightweight submission grappling world championship title, followed by Tye Ruotolo becoming the first-ever ONE welterweight submission grappling world champion.

In a recent ‘Ask Us Anything’ session on Instagram, the twin brothers discussed their individual journeys in ONE Championship and how they have evolved into leading BJJ practitioners in the world today.

When a fan asked if they would be willing to grapple each other on the world’s largest martial arts platform, they replied:

“We have definitely thought about having a crazy match with separate training camps on the big stage, but we wouldn’t mind MMA.”

Since their initial appearance on the mat, the Ruotolo brothers have been in control, causing speculation about a potential transition to mixed martial arts. However, before making any moves, both brothers will encounter a challenging trial as they make their comeback to the ring on April 5.

Dynamic Duo Kade and Tye Ruotolo Set to Continue Dominance at ONE Fight Night 21

Kade and Tye Ruotolo are set to take part in ONE Fight Night 21 on Friday, April 5. Kade Ruotolo will kick off the event by facing off against Brazilian sensation Francisco Lo in a 180-pound catchweight bout. Lo, a multiple-time IBJJF champion, has previously claimed the top spot at the 2023 American Nationals and the Pan Championship.

Lo also achieved first place on the podium at the 2022 IBJJF Brazilian Nationals while competing as a brown belt.

Tye Ruotolo, a 5-0 star, will be defending his ONE welterweight submission grappling world title against Australian standout Izaak Michell. While Michell will also be making his ONE debut, he brings a wealth of experience from training with BJJ legends such as Leo Arruda, John Danaher, and Craig Jones. His list of accomplishments is impressive, making him a formidable opponent for Ruotolo.

Michell achieved first place at both the ADCC Asia & Oceania Trials and the Who’s Next Tournament in 2022. He also earned the top prize as a brown belt at the IBJJF World Championships.
