K-pop soloist G-Dragon confirms comeback in the second half of 2024 and announces global promotion plans
According to a report from Korean media outlet News1 on Wednesday, April 3, K-pop soloist G-Dragon is finally making his highly-anticipated return to the music scene. The announcement revealed that the idol is aiming for a comeback in the latter half of this year and has plans to expand his promotions globally, including in Japan.
According to reports, G-Dragon’s current agency, Galaxy Corporation, shared the news with a Korean media outlet. The agency revealed that the idol’s upcoming comeback will include promotional plans to connect with a global audience by visiting multiple countries, solidifying his return to the music industry.
The agency recently informed the Korean media outlet, News1, about the idol’s highly anticipated solo comeback.
“G-Dragon is scheduled to make a comeback in the second half of this year. After his comeback, he will carry out global activities. Among them, activities in Japan are also planned. Galaxy Corporation’s Japanese branch was established in September of last year before G-Dragon was recruited. Of course, this branch will help the idol’s activities in Japan in the future.”
The agency clarified that a Japanese branch of Galaxy Corporation was established in September 2023. Although this predates the idol’s signing with the agency, they assured that this branch would handle a large portion of his Japanese promotions and activities. With the idol’s upcoming music release after a hiatus, fans are eagerly anticipating the comeback.
G-Dragon’s Highly Anticipated Comeback Confirmed by Galaxy Corporation for Second Half of 2024 with Extensive Global Promotional Strategy
At the age of 35, G-Dragon is a South Korean rapper and singer-songwriter who first rose to fame as a member of the second-generation K-pop boy group BIGBANG in 2006, under YG Entertainment. Despite initially being known as a member of a boy band, G-Dragon has established his own individual reputation through his solo activities, earning him the title of King of K-pop due to his growing influence.
The fans of the idol have come to treasure a number of his solo albums, including COUP D’ETAT, Shine A Light, Heartbreaker, and more.
Despite netizens’ continuous anticipation for his solo releases, the idol has not released any music since his last EP in 2017, titled KWON JI YONG after his real name. This hiatus was caused by several factors such as his mandatory military service and his departure from YG Entertainment, among others.
Despite G-Dragon’s announcement last year that he was preparing for a solo comeback, fans were aware that it would not be a soon release as YG Entertainment had also disclosed his departure from the agency due to the expiration of their contract. However, in December 2023, the idol signed with Galaxy Corporation and after almost seven years, he is now set to make his highly anticipated solo comeback.
According to a recent interview with the CEO of Galaxy Corporation, the company is planning to organize a world tour, concerts, fan-meetings, and a performance at The Vegas Sphere in 2025 as a grand finale for the artist’s global activities.
The idol has been making waves in the industry since signing a new contract with Galaxy Corporation. Not only did he attend CES 2024, a popular tech event, but he also collaborated with renowned Japanese rock artist, Yoshiki.
