JYP Entertainment to Take Legal Action ‘Without Leniency’ Against TWICE Stalker

JYP Entertainment to Take Legal Action ‘Without Leniency’ Against TWICE Stalker

JYP Entertainment Takes a Stand Against Stalking of TWICE Members

On Wednesday, JYP Entertainment, the renowned management company behind the K-pop sensation TWICE, issued a stern warning concerning an individual persistently stalking the group’s members. The agency has made it clear that if this behavior does not cease immediately, it will pursue legal action vigorously.

Details of Stalking Incidents

Although the identity of the stalker remains undisclosed, JYP Entertainment reported that the individual has been sending unsettling letters and photos to members of TWICE. Additionally, the stalker has been spotted loitering near the group’s workplace and residential areas, leading to significant psychological distress for the artists.

Enhanced Security Measures and Legal Policies

In light of these troubling incidents, JYP Entertainment has ramped up security protocols to better safeguard its artists. The agency emphasized that persistent stalking behaviors contravene South Korea’s Act on Punishment of Stalking Crimes. This law addresses unwanted approaches made near persons’ residences or workplaces and prohibits unsolicited communications, including letters and images, thereby imposing stringent penalties on offenders.

Strong Stance Against Disturbing Behavior

In a forceful statement, JYP Entertainment made it clear: “These actions explicitly violate the wishes of our artists. Should the individual fail to stop their stalking behaviors immediately, we will not hesitate to employ all available legal measures with the utmost severity and without any leniency or possibility for settlement.”This statement underscores the seriousness with which the agency is treating this situation.

History of Stalking Cases in K-Pop

This recent incident is not isolated, as TWICE has faced similar challenges in the past. A notable case occurred in January 2020 when a German stalker targeted member Nayeon while she was on a flight from Japan to South Korea. The individual, who had broadcasted intentions to meet her on social media, managed to secure a seat on the same flight and attempted multiple approaches. Following this alarming episode, Nayeon was placed under police protection, and JYP Entertainment vowed to initiate the highest level of legal action against the offender.
