Despite facing considerable backlash from its user base, Microsoft continues its commitment to phasing out the traditional Outlook for Windows in favor of its new web-based app. The company actively responds to user feedback, rolling out monthly updates designed to enhance the overall user experience.

Highlights of the June 2025 Update

On this day, Microsoft has unveiled the June 2025 update, introducing a slew of improvements, including several features highly requested by Outlook users.

Enhanced Support for.pst Files

This latest iteration improves support for.pst (Outlook Data File) files, allowing users to reply to and forward emails stored within these files. Microsoft is dedicated to further enhancing.pst file compatibility, ensuring a seamless transition for users still reliant on this feature.

Integration of Copilot Features

For users with a personal Microsoft account that holds access to Copilot Pro or AI credits via a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription, Copilot features are now available for various personal email accounts integrated into the Outlook app. This includes popular email providers such as Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, Live.com, MSN.com, Gmail, Yahoo, and iCloud.

Streamlined Email Management

The update introduces a more straightforward way to transfer emails between personal accounts. Although this feature is deactivated by default for enterprise users, administrators have the option to enable it as needed.

Offline Mode Enhancements

Notably, Microsoft has extended the default email sync window in offline mode from 7 days to 30 days. Users will also enjoy the ability to access search folders and cancel sent emails while offline, significantly enhancing usability in various environments.

Email Coaching Support

The update also includes Copilot’s new email coaching capabilities, which provide suggestions for improving tone, clarity, and sentiment before sending an email. Moreover, if users find these suggestions unwelcome, they can effortlessly disable Copilot by visiting the Copilot control page in the Settings window.

Enhanced Accessibility for Shared Folders

Microsoft has also made it easier for users to add shared folders to their Favorites, allowing quick and convenient access to vital content directly from the Favorites list.

New Contact Tagging Feature

Finally, a useful enhancement is the introduction of an “External”tag for external contact suggestions that appear when composing emails. This feature assists users in differentiating between internal and external contacts, promoting clarity and efficiency in communication.
