On October 18, the JTBC network revealed the comeback of “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator,”a popular cooking-variety show, following the triumph of Netflix’s “Culinary Class Wars.”This beloved series originally aired for five years, from November 2014 until November 2019.
The decision to revive this show comes amid a global surge of interest in the restaurant sector and celebrity chefs. According to an official from JTBC, the new season of “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator”is set to premiere in 2025, though the cast has not yet been confirmed.

From 2014 to 2019, “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator”captivated audiences as renowned Korean chefs delved into the refrigerators of various guests to transform overlooked ingredients into incredible dishes. Each episode highlighted guests’ fridges, where chefs would whip up meals in just 15 minutes.
The format blended culinary creativity with conversational elements, featuring chefs and food advisors who addressed the cooking dilemmas of the refrigerator owners. This show gained immense popularity during its airing, with many celebrities guest-starring either as culinary counselors or as the refrigerator owners themselves. Notably, in 2017, BTS members Jin and Jimin made an appearance and entertained the audience with a dance.
Other well-known personalities who graced the show included SHINee’s Key, INFINITE’s Sunggyu, and even the esteemed British chef, Gordon Ramsay. Star chef Choi Hyun-seok from “Culinary Class Wars”also made his mark on the program.

The competition showcased one hundred top chefs divided into two groups: white spoons (celebrity chefs) and black spoons (non-celebrity chefs), competing for a grand prize of 300 million Won (approximately $230,000). Judging the culinary battles were celebrated chef Paik Jon-won and Korea’s only Michelin three-star chef, Anh Sung-jae.
The first season included numerous celebrity chefs like Choi Hyun-seok, Choi Kang-rok, Edward Lee, Fabrizio Ferrari, Joseph Lidgerwood, and Seonkyoung Longest, with Napoli Mafia emerging victorious after battling Edward Lee in the finale.
Two participants from “Culinary Class Wars,”Chef Im Tae-hoon, renowned as ‘the Self-made Chef,’ and Chef Yoon Nam-no, known as ‘the Cooking Maniac,’ are collaborating with celebrity chef Baek Jong-won for a new entertainment series called “Les Miserables,”which is currently in production and slated for release on ENA in November 2024.
The inaugural season of “Culinary Class Wars”launched on Netflix from September 17 to October 8, 2024, and due to its successful reception, a second season has already been announced, prompting excitement for even higher stakes in the upcoming episodes.
