As she sang a line mentioning “snakebite evangelists,”Mitchell quickly added, “Like Donald Trump.”The lyrics read:

“Dog eat dog / You’ll do well in this land of / Snakebite evangelists and racketeers / You could get to be a big wig financier.”

Furthermore, video footage from the event showed Mitchell expressing her strong feelings about Trump with a curse word.

“F**k Donald Trump!”she declared.

Music News reported that her comments elicited excited reactions from the audience. In response, Mitchell passionately encouraged the crowd of 17,000 to prioritize voting, underlining its significance.

“Everybody get out and vote. This is an important one,”she urged.

On Saturday, Joni Mitchell triumphantly returned to the stage after a remarkable 24-year hiatus during an event called Joni Jam in Los Angeles, United States. According to Music News, the revered Canadian artist performed several songs live for the first time, including “Sunny Sunday”and “God Must Be A Boogie Man.”

During the concert, Mitchell was joined by notable artists like Annie Lennox, Marcus Mumford, Brandi Carlile, and Rita Wilson. Together, they delivered memorable renditions of her classic songs such as “Big Yellow Taxi,””California,””Both Sides, Now,”and even performed Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing.”

Mitchell’s long absence from performing was due to a brain aneurysm. As reported by Parade, she was found unresponsive at her home on March 31, 2015, after experiencing a rupture.

In a candid interview with The Guardian in October 2020, Joni Mitchell spoke about her recovery, sharing that she had to relearn basic skills like talking and walking following her ordeal.

“Once again I couldn’t walk. I had to learn how again. I couldn’t talk. Polio didn’t grab me like that, but the aneurysm took away a lot more, really. Took away my speech and my ability to walk. But I mean, I’m a fighter,”she reflected.

Mitchell further noted that although she could converse with relative ease now, walking remained a challenge. Yet, she expressed optimism about her recovery, crediting her strength to her Irish roots.

According to Today News, Mitchell resumed public appearances in 2021 and has since been honored with several accolades, including the Kennedy Center Honor. The publication also mentioned that the celebrated Canadian artist is now in good health.
