Jonathan Di Bella prefers to have knockouts come naturally in a fight: “I don’t look for the finish”

Jonathan Di Bella has no intention of aggressively seeking a knockout in his upcoming world title fight.

In October of 2022, Di Bella made his debut in ONE Championship and was able to secure the vacant strawweight kickboxing world title by defeating Zhang Peimian with a unanimous decision. A year later, the undefeated Canadian-Italian returned to defend his title and successfully did so by winning another unanimous decision against Danial Williams.

This week, the ONE strawweight kickboxing king will make his comeback in the co-main event at ONE Friday Fights 58. Di Bella is set to battle his most challenging opponent yet, as he fights to defend his throne against ONE strawweight Muay Thai world champion Prajanchai.

During an interview with the South China Morning Post, Di Bella was questioned about his strategy for securing a knockout victory. In response, the 27-year-old world champion stated:

“Whatever happens, man. I don’t look for the finish, but if it happens, it’ll happen.”

The iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand will host the highly anticipated ONE Friday Fights 58 event. Fans can catch the two world title fights on pay-per-view via watch.onefc.com this Friday.

Prajanchai targets victory over Jonathan Di Bella in pursuit of two-sport dominance

Despite being dethroned by Joseph Lasiri in May 2022 for the ONE strawweight Muay Thai world title, Prajanchai was able to recover and defeat both Kompet and the renowned Sam-A. These victories earned him a rematch against Lasiri for the ONE title, providing a second chance for the Thai superstar to claim the championship.

In December 2023, Prajanchai achieved a historic feat by defeating Lasiri in under two minutes, solidifying his status as a three-time ONE strawweight Muay Thai champion. He is now determined to continue building his legacy by challenging Jonathan Di Bella for the title of two-sport champion.

Despite Prajanchai’s determination, he will face a formidable challenge at the office, as Di Bella boasts an impressive lifetime professional record of 12-0. Ultimately, it remains to be seen which of these world-class strawweights will come out on top in the ONE Friday Fights 58 co-main event.
