Anticipated iOS 19 UI Redesign: Insights from Jon Prosser
Today, renowned Apple insider Jon Prosser revealed intriguing mockups of the expected user interface redesign for the forthcoming iOS 19 update. Prosser showcased these visuals in a recent video featured on his YouTube channel, FPT, offering a glimpse into the potential appearance of various applications and functions powered by insights from his sources.
Visual Enhancements to the Lock Screen
In his presentation, Prosser indicated that while the overall functionality of the lock screen will remain unchanged, a significant visual enhancement is on the horizon. The mockup presented a lock screen design reminiscent of current aesthetics but incorporates translucent elements for notifications and 3D floating buttons, promising a fresh look without altering core features.
Revamped Settings and App Interfaces
Notably, Prosser highlighted that the Settings menu will see its elements, popups, and buttons adopting a rounder shape and a “glass”finish. Additionally, both the app interfaces and the keyboard UI will align more closely with the design philosophy seen in Apple’s visionOS, echoing earlier reports not only from him but also from reputable industry analyst, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.
Insights from Mark Gurman on Mockups
Adding to the conversation, Gurman recently took to the social media platform Threads to express skepticism about the authenticity of the iOS 19 mockups circulating, particularly those attributed to Prosser. He argued that these images do not accurately represent what Apple plans to unveil at WWDC, stating:
iOS 19 images floating around aren’t representative of what we’ll see at WWDC. They look to be based on either very old builds or vague descriptions, missing key features. Expect more from Apple in June. Regardless, mockups – real or not – are always exciting for Apple watchers.
A Closer Look at Mark Gurman’s Remarks
In addition to his social media commentary, Gurman discussed these mockups within his Discord channel, asserting that Prosser may either possess outdated screenshots or is out of touch with the more current designs. His reference to the “real thing”hints at a critique of Prosser’s claims regarding the accuracy of his mockups.
While Gurman has yet to disclose the specific changes expected in iOS 19, he has mentioned in previous updates that the design elements—including apps, menus, and animations—will draw inspiration from visionOS. As a reminder, Apple is set to hold its annual WWDC online from June 9 to June 13, where attendees can anticipate the first official presentation of iOS 19.
