Joel Embiid sports iconic Triple H and Shawn Michaels ‘Suck It’ WrestleMania merchandise
The Philadelphia 76ers welcomed back their star player, Joel Embiid, on Tuesday after he had been sidelined for two months due to a knee injury. Despite his absence, Embiid proved to be a valuable asset as he led his team to a 109-105 win over the OKC Thunder.
To commemorate his comeback and their triumph, the 30-year-old former third overall pick proudly wore a shirt featuring the ‘Suck It’ catchphrase made famous by the legendary wrestling duo of Triple H and Shawn Michaels. The shirt is part of the official merchandise for WrestleMania, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this weekend in Philadelphia.

Joel Embiid’s fondness for D-Generation X (DX), of which members included Triple H and Shawn Michaels, is well-known. He has even incorporated one of their signature moves, the crotch chop ‘Suck it’ gesture, into his on-court celebrations. This behavior has previously caused controversy for the NBA superstar.
Similar to how he built up anticipation for WrestleMania 40, Embiid displayed impressive leadership as he guided his team to a win against the Thunder upon his comeback to the court. Despite only playing for 29 minutes, he recorded 24 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and three steals.
Embiid’s return to the court for this game marked his first appearance since late January, when he had been dealing with a left meniscus injury. Although he was initially expected to miss the game against OKC, he was ultimately cleared to play.
Philadelphia (41-35) is embarking on a three-game road trip, which kicks off with a game against the Miami Heat on Thursday. Their goal is to accumulate victories during this stretch, strengthening their position in the late push for a top six finish in the Eastern Conference and securing an automatic playoff spot.
Joel Embiid sets sights on further growth with the Sixers following triumphant comeback
Despite being sidelined for two months due to a knee injury, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid made his return to the lineup on Tuesday. His presence proved crucial as his team secured a significant 109-105 win against the OKC Thunder. However, despite the successful comeback, Embiid acknowledged that he is still working to regain his top form.
The current NBA MVP played for 29 minutes and contributed 24 points. He also recorded seven assists, six rebounds, and three steals. This was his first game after being absent since January 30th.
After the game, Embiid addressed the media and discussed his return to the basketball court. He also opened up about the mental obstacles he had to overcome. According to the Cameroonian star, as reported by BBC,
“This one took a toll mentally. I just wanted to come back. I’m only going to get better, but this one has been the hardest by far, especially mentally.”
As of now, the Sixers are positioned in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, boasting a record of 41-35. The team has high hopes for the remaining six games, with the return of Embiid, as they strive to climb up in the standings and secure a spot in the top six. This would guarantee them a spot in the playoffs.
