Joe Budden Responds to DDG’s Breakup with Halle Bailey: Rapper Fires Back at Presenter’s Remarks

On October 3, 2024, DDG made headlines by announcing his breakup with Halle Bailey, prompting a wave of reactions across social media platforms. In conjunction with this, Joe Budden offered his insights regarding the separation during a recent episode of his podcast, to which DDG later responded.

During the podcast episode that aired on Saturday, October 5, Joe revealed his unfamiliarity with DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. He commented on the breakup, expressing his views by stating:

“Now that they’ve split, I won’t have to keep seeing this n*gga’s name linked to hers, and frankly, I don’t know him outside of that association. It’s crucial for me that individuals are recognized based on their own achievements and merits.”

Joe further questioned the persistent connection between Darryl’s name and Halle’s, labeling it as typical “clout chasing.”He added:

“This makes me see him in a different light, and I hope to have less exposure to him now that they are no longer together.”

In retaliation, Darryl took to his official account on X and posted on October 5, sharing images from the RIAA that depicted Joe Budden’s single “Pump It Up”achieving Gold certification, alongside screenshots showing that three of Darryl’s singles have also reached the same milestone. His caption read:

“Pump It Up went gold after 20 years you old b*tch @JoeBudden I’m coming for you.”

DDG and Halle Bailey Commit to Staying Friends After Their Split

As previously mentioned, DDG and Halle Bailey’s separation was publicly confirmed on October 3. The rapper took to his Instagram Story to share that the decision came with difficulty but highlighted the importance of cherishing their shared experiences.

Darryl elaborated:

“Regardless of the changes in our relationship, the love we have for each other remains profound and genuine. We continue to be best friends who care deeply for one another. As we each embark on our own paths and embrace our roles as co-parents, we treasure the connection we’ve fostered and the memorable times we’ve enjoyed together.”

The couple has been romantically linked since 2022 and made their first public appearance together at the BET Awards that same year.

The two have repeatedly celebrated their love, with Halle even appearing in DDG’s music video for “If I Want You.”

Last year, Halle was spotted with Darryl during Milan Fashion Week and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Their appearances continued until rumors of Halle’s pregnancy became widespread in November 2023.

In January 2024, Halle confirmed via Instagram that she and Darryl welcomed a son, whom they named Halo. The “Grown-ish”star shared a touching picture of her newborn’s hand and wrote:

“Even though the new year has just begun, the best gift of 2023 was the arrival of my son. Welcome to the world, my Halo; the world is eager to meet you.”

Despite Darryl being the first to announce their separation, Halle has not yet released any public statement regarding the breakup.
