“Jin Resembles a Character from a Japanese Anime” — Fans Amazed as BTS’ Kim Seok-jin Unveils Concept Photos for His Solo Album ‘Happy’
On the evening of October 18, 2024, BIGHIT MUSIC unveiled the newest concept images for Kim Seok-jin’s upcoming solo album titled Happy. The talented singer-songwriter, known for his enchanting ballads like “The Moon,”sports a chic brunette mullet in these captivating shots. The visuals portray him in various settings, including a seemingly relaxed moment near a camping van and within a tennis-themed dressing area.
This nostalgic camping van arrangement draws parallels to BTS’ In The Soop series, where the group frequently posed in front of a similar vehicle.
Additionally, many fans noted that his hairdo resembles that of Light Yagami, the iconic character from the anime Death Note. One enthusiastic fan remarked on X:
“Jin looks like he’s just stepped out of a Japanese anime.”
As these concept images gained widespread attention, members of the BTS fandom shared thoughts about how they convey the message that “being alone doesn’t equate to unhappiness.” Several fans pointed out the striking resemblance between Seok-jin and Light Yagami.
“The vibes resonate with me. Being alone doesn’t mean we are not happy. We can do whatever we want without fear of judgment,”one fan expressed.
“Seems we’re all thinking the same. Sorry, Seok-jin; those Light Yagami comparisons aren’t going away,” another fan added.
“Without any context about Jin, I would easily assume he’s a Japanese actor portraying Light Yagami from Death Note or a character from Boys Over Flowers,” another fan remarked.
Some fans reminisced about a past comment made by BTS member Suga, who described Jin as looking like he came “straight out of a shoujo manga.”For those unfamiliar, Shoujo mangas typically feature male protagonists characterized by gentle and romantic traits.
“He truly embodies handsome beauty. There’s a reason he’s dubbed World Wide Handsome!”one fan lauded.
“This man is divine; you all can’t comprehend his ethereal nature,” another comment read.
“I remember when Yoongi mentioned that Seok-jin looks like he stepped out of a shoujo manga,”one fan recalled.
BTS’ Kim Seok-jin Welcomes j-hope on His Military Discharge
On October 17, 2024, j-hope, a vital member of BTS, completed his mandatory military service and was welcomed back into civilian life. Due to North Korea’s recent hostilities toward South Korea, which included the destruction of key rail links, other enlisted BTS members were reportedly unable to attend his discharge ceremony.
Seok-jin was the only BTS member present outside the Wonju military base to celebrate j-hope’s return. Following the event, leader Kim Namjoon shared a heartfelt Instagram story extending his warm wishes and indicating he would reconnect with j-hope soon. The remaining members Namjoon, Taehyung, Jimin, Jungkook, and Suga are expected to complete their military duties by June 2025.
