Carrey maintained that his return to acting would hinge on the merit of the script presented to him. He famously noted that he would only act again “if the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see.”Ironically, it turns out those “angels”had a hedgehog-shaped twist, as Carrey agreed to reprise his role in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 after a long hiatus from film projects. In a recent interaction with the Associated Press, Carrey reflected on his motivations for returning to this franchise.
Carrey’s Humble Revelations
When pressed about whether the script indeed held significant importance, Carrey candidly revealed that his prior comments about Hollywood were somewhat exaggerated. “I came back to this universe because, first of all, I get to play a genius, which is a bit of a stretch,” he jokingly stated. “And, you know, it’s just … I bought a lot of stuff and I need the money, frankly.”
