In a recent interview with Despierta America, Ojani Noa, the first husband of Jennifer Lopez, shared insights about their past relationship. As reported by Marca News on October 20, he also expressed his backing for Ben Affleck, who is Lopez’s most recent ex-husband, indicating a sense of camaraderie with him.
Noa further delved into the legal issues he faced in connection with Lopez, alleging that Sean “Diddy” Combs played a role in their separation.
He claimed that Lopez was unfaithful during their marriage, stating,
“Part of that divorce was Diddy’s fault.”
As noted by People Magazine, Jennifer Lopez and Sean “Diddy”Combs were in a relationship from 1999 until 2001 after they met on the set of her music video for If You Had My Love.
Jennifer Lopez and Diddy’s relationship lasted two years before they ended things
According to a report by Pop Culture dated May 8, 2024, Diddy has previously stated that Jennifer Lopez was his first true love, even though he was already in a relationship when they met. At that time, Diddy was an established name in the music industry.
They crossed paths in 1999 while Lopez’s singing career was just starting to take off on the set of a music video. During their relationship, Diddy’s influence in hip-hop reportedly helped Lopez as she began collaborating with various artists and released numerous hits.
Reflecting on this, the LA Times reported in October 2014 that she expressed her gratitude, stating,
“He gave me so many cues and taught me so many things. I’ll always be grateful to him for that.”
However, the couple faced a tumultuous incident on December 28, 1999, when they were in New York City. During a night out, a confrontation escalated, resulting in gunfire that injured three individuals.
In the wake of the incident, Diddy’s associate, Jamal Barrows, faced charges including attempted murder, while both he and Lopez were arrested on gun possession allegations.
They were eventually apprehended as they fled in Diddy’s vehicle, which contained a firearm. Consequently, the charges against Lopez were dropped after she cooperated with law enforcement, asserting that she was unaware of the gun’s presence. Diddy was acquitted of all charges in March 2001.
J-Lo recounted her experience in an interview with Elle, describing it as a nightmare, stating,
“It was a complete nightmare from beginning to end. I was scared to death in the car. I had absolutely no idea what was going on. No one did.”

Ultimately, they parted ways in 2001, with Lopez explaining in a July 2003 interview with Vibe Magazine,
“I never caught him but I just knew. He’d say he was going to a club for a couple of hours and then never come back that night. It was the first time I was with someone who wasn’t faithful. I had to think, do I want to be home with kids in 10 years wondering where somebody is at three in the morning?”
Following their breakup, Combs reportedly continued to pursue Lopez for a period. According to a Forbes article from October 2024, she revealed in her documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, that she experienced distressing situations in previous relationships, stating she had been “manhandled and a couple of other unsavory things.”
To date, neither Lopez nor Diddy has commented on Ojani Noa’s claims. Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez is currently navigating the complexities of her divorce from Ben Affleck.
On October 20, Radar Online reported that even with Hollywood attorney Laura Wasser guiding the divorce negotiations, the ex-couple still faces several legal challenges ahead.
